Uhh, GT set them up with a site, she bought the host, the domain. You however, didn't change one word, you changed many more. I'm not getting into details with you. You know what you did, and now tennis knows. So stop being a baby. How could you do one thing and say another? Blah, you annoy me. Teaching someone how to use FTP doesn't make you holy btw, if kasey got wiseftp I would've showed her how to do it, yet I don't prance around like something I'm not.

Last post I'm gonna say in this thread....but I do recall asking GT to host you. >.> Maybe not the domain directly, but because I asked GT to host you, you ended up getting the domain. And I told GT I was too lazy to write content not to make layouts and code stuff. I'm doing that for Poke-Mania too. >.> And tennis just told me that someone on IRC said not to hire me because of what I did to Kasey's site. I knew it was you because you are you and only you or Kasey would say that. And I was adding something that I helped Kasey and Draggy's site with. >.> Teaching her how to use FTP. I wasn't saying there was anything special about that.

Anyway, wtf is up with the forum skin? Space? :o

Keep on topic with things that relate to the Spriting Shack, not your own forum (what is it called, Bunnyland or something...)
Any personal animosity issues are taken to PM.

Seriously.

im being nice to kurushel and instead of posting, im gonna edit your post and say we're -not- talking about bunnyland, but an actual site in the making! :O
Is that you Valentine...? And nothing in my post here is different. - DNA

If this thread is de-railed any further, it may become the victim of a lock. Steer your conversation in the right direction, please.

Lol yeah, I'm just trying to have the header and navbar on a separate HTML page, but I can't figure out how link to HTML off the page. Help would be really appreciate by anyone!

Lol 69th post.

Ummm you can't exactly link HTML off the page (like CSS) although if you're using PHP, I there is a way that you can link in something like a header (I'm not sure if this is a good idea for nav bars though..)

Just store your header in a separate PHP file (for example head.php)

then just insert the code into every page using the insert() function ...ex.:

Code:

<html>
<body>
<?php include("head.php"); ?>
<p>your news</p>
<p>other text</p>
<p>etc. etc., you get the idea</p>
</body>
</html>

You can use the require() function instead of the include() function (I'd recommend it). They're both exactly the same, save for the way they handle errors. The include() function creates a warning and the script keeps on executing. The require() function makes a fatal error and the execution of the code stops, so you won't get any stupid error message that include your code.

If you want to do this, I think all of your pages have to be .php

If it's just the layout that you want to change on every page, then use CSS

@Kurushel: Sorry for people going off topic :(

@Members + Poe: STOP SPAMMING OR THIS TOPIC WILL BE LOCKED :(
(I don't mean for this to be backseat modding, I'm just reminding my members that continuing to post off topic will only hurt the Spriting Shack)

@Cherrygrove:

Thanks for the info! It's too bad I can't link to an HTML file though... and I don't want to have to rewrite the site in PHP. I'll content with my super copy pasting skills and ability to withstand repetitive tasks :O But thanks for letting me know its not possible :)

...

In other news, we have 1000+ hits! I know it doesn't seem like I'm updating that much, but I don't want to have to post a whole new update every time I fix a line of code or add a link to the navbar.

I'm thinking of weaving in an HTML tutorial into the source code of the index page with <!--comments-->; do you guys think that would be a good/bad/insignificant idea?

Also, we are in super affiliate mode, so if anyone wants to affiliate with us, just post in the shoutbox or PM me (either here or on the Spriting Shack forums). You will most likely be accepted, do to our current desire to grow.

And if you still haven't joined, well, no day like today!

Well, TSS is definitely reeling in popularity, and for the time being, that is not a bad thing at all. Because if anything gets out of hand, you can put it down lickety-split.

I think the popular saying is "no time like the present". :wink:

Well I'm original :P

In other news, 1500+ hits, and more than half of the tutorials are up.

I'm currently very focused on SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Once we get all the broken links going somewhere, I'm gonna submit the site to The Open Directory Project (DMOZ) to help bump us up on google.

But even with a PageRank of 0/10, we are still on the first page for the following searches:

Spriting Tutorials
Spriting Guides
Pokemon Tutorials
Pokemon Spriting
Pokemon Mechanics
In game Pokemon Mechanics
Spriting Shack Guides
etc.

And we are #1 link for:

Spriting Mechanics
Pokemon Tutorials Mechanics
Pokemon Spriting Tutorials (and) Mechanics
Pokemon In game Mechanics Tutorials
Spriting Shack Tutorials
etc.

AAAAAAANNNDDD we made it on the second page for just the search:
Spriting

In a way, I wish my forum was as popular as yours. Then again, we have roughly the same active member count and content, as well as affiliate number (I think I have around 6) but I lack a main site. That must be it...
