Here we will post pokemon we feel are ovverated.underates, and why.

MY biggest one is Blaziken. People think it looks cool, it is fast, it has great attack. It does have great attack stats, but those are the ONLY good ones. They aren't going to do much for you witt that low speed and terrible defenses! Of course, many people feel differently, which is why it is overated, and why it is on the top of my list........

Almost all of the starters' final evos are over-rated (same goes for legendaries). I don't see why people use them so much when they aren't all that great... the Grass starters are especially overrated, as these are usually the worst of the trios. Hopefully the P/D starters won't be as over-used as the previous ones.

And also, one of the most over-rated Pokemon in existance - Gardevoir. Lol, I love to use it and I guess I kinda over-rate it. It's not always that great, especially when it comes to NB.

As for under-rated, well... I've never really thought about what Pokemon are under-rated and such, so I'll just leave this one.

Overrated

Sceptile- Last time I used it, it sucked badly. The only good thing about it is Speed and Leaf Blade.

Swampert- It seems great until it battles a Grass type.

Blaziken- I agree with mudkipman about Blaziken. The only good thing is its attack and Blaze Kick.

Underrated

Luvdisc- It sucks in battle, but it comes with a heart scale sometimes. If you ask me, it's worth it.

Venasaur- Almost everyone I know who plays pokemon against me doesn't use a Venasaur because it's weak. It has good stats and good moves and I beat them with it every battle. They still don't shut up about it though. :?

I think Jarichi is overrated. Personaly, I try to avoid using it, I don't like it's attacks.

Overrated: blissey/skarmory (building teams became centered around counters to these things).

Underrated: Dugtrio. Killing Machine. Nuff Said.

Underreated: crobat. I love it, but noone seems to be passinet (sp) enough to get it. Yet they go after blissey...

Overrated:

*Chansey/Blissey- Completely overrated. Seriously, I remember the first time that I'd ever used a Chansey in battle. I was in Kanto after beating the Elite Four in Crystal version, and I'd spent the better part of an hour running around the tall grass near Silence Bridge until the plushy magenta bean bag finally appeared on my screen. I threw a small Apricorn orchard's worth of Friend Balls at the stupid thing, thinking "Duh, super high HP PWNS!!!11!!" like the fool that I am sometimes, and after a mind numbing five or six minutes, I caught it. Next, I went proudly to Mt. Silver to train it, where I was terribly thrashed time and again by wild Pokemon. Eventually I decided to just switch it out with Pidgeot in every battle until it bummed enough Exp. points to evolve. It did...and it still sucked. That whole experience turned me off of the Chansey family. You have to work so freakin' hard to get one, and the stupid thing can't even handle a few wild Rapidash without going hardboiled. What a waste of game time! My suggestion is to wait until you need Chansey to complete the Pokedex, but when it comes to battle, leave it where it belongs: the trash.

*Pikachu/Raichu- Okay, these guys were okay in the original Kanto generation, especially the Pikachu you get as a starter in Yellow. However, once the Johto generation came around, the Pikachu family's wagon quickly began to roll down hill. The once halfway decent electric rodent became no more than a figurehead, getting trampled by things as lowly as **shudders** Clefairy. (Bad experience that I won't relive by posting it here) Raichu, the main destructor of the family who used to blast away any would-be opponents isn't much better than his yellow little brother. I've seen him taken down to the red zone by a Misdreavous. That is just...depressing.

Before I get a response like that, let me assure you that I've been playing these games since they first came out in the 90's, and I know a bad Pokemon when I see one. These...are worse than that. They make me ashamed to carry a Pokedex...

Underrated:

*Meowth/Persian- Okay, so maybe I favor the original 150, but let me tell you, these cats are swingin', man. They used to be quite popular in the old days, but now they have faded into the background, left to purr in empty lonliness as trainers run to catch cuter things like Skitty. Well, I'm a diehard fan of the Scratch/Classy cat family, and I'm proud of it. They're fast, they pack a whollop, and they give you money! Now tell me, when's the last time your Skitty paid you after a battle? Uh huh, that's what I thought... Never.

*Donphan- I LOVE these guys! Sure, they aren't quite as cool as Rhydon, but they are GREAT in battle. Defense Curl, Rollout, Earthquake, and Rapid Spin are a lethal array of battle techniques. I booted the Elite Four with one, and let's just say that Lt. Surge won't be ordering anyone around again for a long, long time. Donphan gets a little recognition here and there, but I think that it deserves MUCH more than it presently recieves.

There's my two cents...

Sorry, but I have to say this. Dragons? Bad special defense? The world is a sad place when a base 80 to 105 is bad. Sure, they're overrated, but they don't have bad special defense. Nope, it's the common four times weakness to ice that finishes them off.

I think that Skarmory is completely overatted. Me, seeing that everyone on Netbattle either has one or bases their Team around, decides to go and capture one, thinking it will be great to train, and what happens, I challenge my friend, and it gets wiped out by a Clefable, using Metrenome to Sacred Fire. It's put me off since.

Underrated; Though I think Arcanine looks cool, everyone uses him, but no one realises that its movepool completely mucks him up. He can't even do the whole sunnybeam - business.

Well I have to argue with dragons. Shure they get a little crazy with them but they are worth having! I would be happy with a dragon that had Earthquake, Flamethrower (much better than Fire Blast or Overheat), Outrage-Dragon Claw-or Dragonbreath, and Thunder. I would use a team of dragons (make shure you have a fighting or fire type in you party).

A lot of you guys have put my thoughts into words, but some I don't agree with

The comment on swampert is my biggest one. I wouldn't say that swampert is the epitome of awesome, but it isn't terrible. I'm not saying that you are saying it is, but if anything, I feel it is actually underrated.

It has an awesome counter to grass types, ice beam. It has pretty nice defense and special defense, so it can actually take grass type-hits pretty well, and then Ice beam them. People take the weakness to grass types a little to far, like almost all weaknesses (except for dragons to ice)

An Miasma. FINALLY someone shares my viewpoint on Meowth/persian. Those things have been abused for so many years, this is great!

So many over-rated Pokemon, so few decent under-rated...

Overrated

Blissey - Great stuff, until you realise that its only offensive capability is Seismic Toss. Then your physical sweeper comes along and ruins the stupid pink blob.

Sceptile - DEFEATED BY AN IN-GAME SCIZOR. WEAK IN SPEED. Leaf Blade only just makes up for it. Oh, and its looks redeem it a bit.

Charizard - So many fans, yet so little usefulness.

Jirachi - Sure, you're in the money if you can get this guy, but you're doomed if you use him.

Skarmory - SKARMORY THIS, SKARMORY THAT! I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FIG ABOUT SKARMORY! I am sick to the teeth about everyone going on about the only Steel/Flying type. It's amazing in Netbattle, but in the real world, i.e. the actual games, it sucks, period. What use does it have outside of tanking and spike/shuffling? Oh, and Flamethrower/Thunderbolt = OWNED.

And a special mention to...
Pikachu - Or as I like to call it, Pikey-chu! Whoever decided to put it in the 10th anniversary line-up of downloadable Pokemon, instead of, say, Jirachi, Celebi, Mew or some other DECENT Pokemon, should be flogged in public. Then again, it was probably Nintendo's idea to use the WORST mascot ever. Pikey-chu = No moves, one of the worst Electric types, FUGLY, and the reason why so many people hate Pokemon.

Underrated

Quagsire - No, I'm not being biased! It was a half-decent Pokemon when I used it in Emerald a while back, and with a proper moveset, it'd be quite good. But everyone ignores it in favour of Swamperet. Jerks.

Ampharos - Better than Pikachu by a long shot. Better movepool, stats and appearance. It's also one of the admin's favourite Pokemon. Its Colisseum animation lets it down.

Fearow - STAB'd Drill Peck and Return, decent Speed and probably the strongest Pokemon you can get before the first Gym leader in RBYGSC/FRLG. I'm surprised it isn't overrated!

Haunter - I have fond memories of my Gold Haunter. So powerful... Gengar is over-used, but not over-rated. Haunter is just as good.

Dragonite - Everyone yammers on about Salamence; Dragonite shows the TRUE power of Dragons! It's the strongest non-Legendary special sweeper, IMO in terms of defenses. Ice Beam messes with its mind though.

I used it the first time i played coluseeum, the only thing i didn't like was it was slow, but that's ok.

<font color="999999">I totally agree with this guy! he is just right at this, Pikachu was good in the old days, but it is now just a face! (rithm).

About Dragonite, believe it or not, I used it over Salamence, it is just like a curse or something that my friend fell in love with this dragon (¬.¬) when he saw it for the first time!, Salamance could be faster than my brown, bulky dragon, but his Ice Beam pwns even Rayquaza; how many fear-causing Salamance have you seen using Ice Beam/Blizzard/Icy Wind? yep, never

Underrated?

may be Bellosom, or Chimecho or even Togetic, maybe also... Foretress?

I can't understand why anyone would underrate altaria and Lapris. (Lapris kiked my butt on stadium)

Because this is a thread about under-rated Pokemon, i.e. Pokemon that are good, but which no-one uses.

Underrated;

{ampharos} Ampharos kicks Pikachu in just about anything.

{scyther} Scythers are great for catching PokeMon with false swipe + High Attack and Speed you can catch almost any in 2 turns XD.

{crobat} Crobats don't have the best move set but it is great for finishing off minimizers and double teamers with airiel ace. Poison too pl0x.

I think the most underrated pokemon is Yanma and Arbok. Yanma can be great in terms of strategy. Arbok can be real deadly if you teach it the right moves. Another would be Mr.Mime. It can also be a great asset in a battle, stratagey wise like Yanma

{nincada}? Why? It's awful, stat-wise and movepool-wise, and only a fool would use it in serious competition (sorry to all you fools out there...)

I don´t think {pikachu} is overated, in fact the only reason to use it is light ball. And {latios} really deserves to be an Uber pkmn, his speed, special attack, moveset and type combination makes him an excelent special sweeper.
