Not really... it's still the same Pokemon with the exact same stats and moves either way. Although Attract is kind of a different story.

Attract is rarely used by in-game trainers; the real problem is the ability "Cute Charm". It is the most annoying ability, IMO. As far as I can tell, it i only ever found on female-only Pokemon, and it is only activated by attacks that make contact.

The solution is to make all your physical sweepers female and keep at least one of every gender (or a neutral Pokemon) on your team.

On-topic, my FireRed team conisists of four female Pokemon versus two male Pokemon. It's a sheer coincidence, but I find it odd. I just catch the first of the kind that I need for my team, and all the Pokemon that I captured from the wild (my starter and my Dratini excluded as they were gifts) were female.

I prefer to have ♀ (female) fossils and starters. When it comes to eggs, I need a few days to get a female. Yes, I can go out cycling and hatch two and a half boxful of eggs to find out all of the hatched Pokémon are male.

I'm not picky about the gender of my Pokemon. I was happy to have a female Gardevoir, but I'm okay with a male Milotic.

I do kinda wish I'd gone for a female Eevee for breeding purposes.

I prefer Female PKMN because you may breed to get more of that kind (very useful for breeding)

<font color="999999">mmm... interesting question; I probably pick the genders of one of my team´s pkmn based more in their appearence.

I mean... look at Ninetales, cute, beautiful, gracious, and is a FOX; I wont train a male one! (hence, there are more female Vulpix/Ninetales than male ones)

now, look at Salamence, big, strong, scary, "dull-witty" and it is a DRAGON; I wont train a female one!

I´ll put it like this...

{togetic} and {gardevoir} looks quite femenine, {aggron} and {machoke} don´t.

{blaziken} and {golem} looks masculine, {altaria} and {delcatty} don´t.

I don't see what the problem with genders is. It makes no difference to the Pokemon itself, and if you get a Pokemon with the rarer gender, it's lucky.

I dont care about gender. Kyogre dosen't even have a gender, he's a nothing, and kyogre is all you need, right?

Cute philosophy. :D

But what about Pokemon like Dratini? I mean, most Pokemon, you look at it, and it jumps right out... Yeah, like Milotic and Delcatty, and Machoke and Aggron.

Same with Dratini.

I mean, Dratini is a girly Pokemon. Dragonair looks even MORE feminine. But then once it evolves to Dragonite, it looks like a more masculine Pokemon. I mean, female works on Dragonite better than male on Dragonair but still...

:D I got a female Mudkip in Ruby the other day. I don't think I've ever gotten a female starter before, so I was happy.

There's only 3 pokemon I care about getting male or female.
Gardevoir = female (Looks more feminine)
Mr. Mime = male (I nickname 'em anyway) and
Alakazam = male (It has a moustache")

When I get my pokes, I always try to get a female first, and then a male, so that I can breed. If its a poke that you can only get one of (i.e. the starters or fossils, I continually restart to get a female.

When Im makeing a competitive team, though, I have a few gender must-haves
1. Gardevoir: Female
2. Mr. Mime: Male
3. Delcatty: Female
4. Most fighting types: Male
5. Luvdisc (I don't use it though, who does?): Female
6. Umbreon: Male
7. Jolteon: Male
8. Vaporeon: Female
9. Espeon: Female
10. Misdreavus: Female

Among a couple of others

Male: {mr. mime} most fighting and steel/ground/rocks {sceptile} and many of the starters.

hmmmm..... lets not forget that without male and female there would be no babies!!! (ok i know ditto saves the day in that department)

i have a nice female {salamence} called sally :)

but i do agree that some pokemon are designed to look one way or the other. eg {roselia} which hasnt been mentioned yet. and then again, some pokemon only come in one gender, eg {kangaskhan} {chansey} {blissey} {miltank} (all female) and {tauros} (all male - cant think of any others off the top of my head).

I don't have a problem with whatever gender my pokemon are... with a few exceptions

"Lazarus" my Alakazam was a male, and the name of the first abra i caught/trained (in blue version) ... and in each version i've got a male one and trained him up... When D/P comes out instead of getting a new one i'll transfer him to it......... so in essence he is a "character" kinda like pikachu from the show... changing genders would just mess things around...

as for other pokemon i dont really care, but i generally keep it balanced (3m 3f)

I dont have a problem training a female "male looking" pokemon but i generally name my pokemon based on their gender.

I usually train males for breeding, but females for actual battles.

You see, apparently a male pokemon does better with a female trainer, than a female poke with a female trainer. Same for a male trainer.

I'm always a male, so yeah.

Sounds like a bit of a pokemyth Peanut-Lover. But then if you think it works that way then you could somehow do better with females and thus prove it to yourself?...

A bit like a placebo -- if you believe it enough it works
