I think they should have new types because a is just about imortal if u use a skill swap on shednija with a psyichic pokemon and then skill swap your psyichic Pokemon ablitly with your sableye to nearly make it imortal. (I think thats possible.....)

You can't skill swap with Shedinja. New "types" aren't necessary, either. 17 is enough.

I agree with Krisp. I actually think the addition of Dark was too much. And girog, I don't think that Pokémon could use a "Wind" type. If I remember correctly Yu-Gi-Oh was using that as a type/nature or whatever they call it.

gah, is it even possible to come up with new types? im sure if they attempted it the ideas would just be to specific and be tossed out before it even hit pokemon fans ears, with that said its probably safe to say nintendo has asked the same question as he did.

It's called an "attribute". I used to play the game... (Besides we already have a Flying type!)
Yeah, I agree with Krisp on this completely. (She doesn't like Luxray or Kyogre at all and that's the only thing I disagree about, but that's beside the point.) 17 types is just too much already. Unless they made "split-offs" of the Dark type...by that I mean like a Light type (then again that would be weird), or a type that's darker than dark. Meh, nevermind; we have enough as it is.

well i think that nintendo does plan on adding a new type, remember in the game since gold, silver and crystal curse doesnt have a type it is still unknown what type it is and looking at arceus it also has this mystery type too "when you use his ability", nintendo probably hasnt decided what this type should be called yet, but they might make it the 18th type

curse is used as a ghost type and a psychic type tho, depending on the pokemon that is using it. that mostlikely why its considered to be a ???. it may have to do with something relating to potential new types or it may just be a mystery for that plain fact that it can be used different ways.

1 t41nk t43r3 s40u7d b3 a 71g4t typ3 cooz ita3'd pwn with 1nv1nincilb3 st4ts and it w0u- NOO!! Sorry, I let my inner newbinhiemer get ahold of the keyboard. I don't know what there should be. There probably will be a light type, maybe even sound. I don't really have any type advantage/weakness reccomendations for them, but they seem pretty imminently coming. Sound does kinda seem like a good idea though... However all I could think of is sound being a variation of ghost, as in not being hit by normal moves... Meh, I'm good with anything they give us, really.

Personally I don't think there should be other types, but a beast type might be nessary because the normal type is to broad with Hyper Beam and Slash in the same type.

I really can't think of any other type that they can come up with except maybe Holy (Opposite of Dark) and maybe Holy could be super effective against Dark and vice-versa (Because they oppose each-other, but there is no real superior, kind of like a Yin-Yang thing)
Come to think of it, a Holy Eevee-lution would look pretty cool.(Eevee-lution = Eevee evolution, duh)

No. We don't need any more new types. They added dark and steel to balance out the over-powered psychic type from the first gen. None of the other types need rebalancing. Everything is fine. I don't think there should be any other types.

No more new types. I'm already confused with all the types they have. In fact they should get rid of bug type. Only good one is heracross and ninjask.

I agree. Bug seems really similar to Grass anyway.

I think that i'd be cool to have new types, but we don't really need them. The ones we have are definately enough, but it might be fun to have new ones. Right now, i can't really say what a new type could be, but maybe they could divide the normal type, like Hard as a rock said.

hmmm...honestly, I think we have enough types, if any should be added it should be light. Ya know, just to counter the whole 'dark' thing

what about ?
anyway, i agree that there are a lot of types already, but that is what makes it so interesting. light type would be interesting, and good in my opinion. there could even be some new weather moves which relate to dark/light in the same way that rain dance/sunny day relate to water/fire types.
i have a question about the history of types though. ive heard that dark and steel type were introduced in the second generation. however, magnemite and magneton are steel types - does this mean they were only electric type in the original games? also, i was wondering why pokes like blastoise learn dark moves like bite. i looked it up, and they learn it even RBY. was it a different type of move back then? or did they have dark type moves even though there were no dark types?

bite and crunch were normal(i only learned this 'cos my friend has stadium.
and magnemitte/ton were just electric.

Magnemite/magneton were pure electric in RBY, and there were a couple of moves that changed, eg, Gust changed from normal to flying, Karate Chop changed from normal to fighting, Bite changed from normal to dark (just to name a few). Moves like wrap and bind also changed, and I think (but don't quote me on this) that some of the accuracy of side effects for certain attacks also changed.
Providing the new types are logical and interesting (and by that I mean not a Love or Light or Happy type) I would probably wouldn't mind the new additions, however I would like more interesting type combos that haven't been used yet (eg bug/fire, electric/ice, rock/ghost, etc). Also wind = flying, so there's no need for that.

hey now...we cant' forget about beedrill...

and by the way, crunch wasn't introduced until the metallic versions anyway, so it was originally dark =p

If Skill Swapping with Shedinja was possible, all Netbattlers would be using it. Bit pointless if it were actually real.
I think there are enough types, I mean I can only just keep up with type matchups and weaknesses as it is with Steel and Dark and stuff, let alone new things like Light and... Plastic types.
I'm just catching onto the idea behind Physical and Special attacks.
