I had a thought the other day. I was busy playing my new Ruby game, and i was getting worried about using my TMs too early, when I thought, why bother with TMs when I can breed them into existance?

So I set about planning my team, and started to breed... This is what I came up with:

I wanted a {houndoom} with flamethrower, sunny day, solar beam and crunch... Flamethrower and Crunch it would learn anyway, but how could I get solar beam and sunny day without using the TMs?
-Level Up {tropius} till it learns solar beam
-Breed with {seedot} so I have a seedot with solar beam
-Level up {seedot} till it learns sunny day
-Breed with {houndour} so I have a houndour with solar beam and sunny day...

Is this a breakthrough for pokemon users everywhere? or is it new only to me?

Your thoughts?

I think that was discovered as soon as the pokemon versions with breeding came out. and idk if seedot and houndour can even breed, and I sort of doubt you will get both those moves. But that's just me.

Yes, seedot and houndour can breed, they are both in the ground egg group. And this isn't a new breakthrough or discovery; if you look through the Psypoke Psydex you will find a lot of extensive breeding information for each pokemon.

I dont know what egg group anything is in, so i guess i should study that more.
Anyway, even though you didnt exactly discover it, good job for finding it out by yourself. Anyone could just look it up =P

We dont need TMs , but it certainly makes things quicker!

Suppose I get some super cool special ultra choclatey fudge rare pokemon on WI FI and it doesnt have the moveset I ant (Like a houndoom with crunch, flamethrower, tackle and growl (dont ask)) and I need to battle someone soon, but I dont have the time to breed and then get a second level 100 houndoom with perfect EVs, nature, and item, it would certainly help to have a TM so I could just say "Houndoom, comeer boy, put this cd on your head!" and have its perfect moveset right there.

...what? A little better use of mechanics, please. I didn't exactly understand that. Maybe it was just that there wasnt enough details, so please explain.

i thought it was pretty understandable. use a male smeargle to sketch a move (like wish for example) and then breed it (with a female eevee for example) to get a baby that knows the desired move. the only problem is that smeargle cant just breed with anything, and also that not every move is an egg move. for example, you can get smeargle to sketch aeroblast and breed with an eevee, but it doesnt mean the baby eevee will know aeroblast.

I find this quite strange, a houndoom with solar beam. It would be useful for a few of his weaknesses. Sounds good to me! :D
