Is it just me, or do certain types have all the same stats? For example:
Fighting-types - High Attack, Low Special Attack, (mostly) Low Speed...
Psychic-types - High Special Attack, High Speed, Low Defense...
Normal-types - Balanced All

and another thing...it seems that certain types all have the same moves, even moves that aren't from that type. For example:

Ghost-types - Confuse Ray, Hypnosis, Will-o-Wisp...it seems like they're just there to annoy and confuse you

I'm sure the rest of you have noticed this...just thought I'd point it out

i guess it kind of makes sense to me too. most electrics are pretty fast too, and generally have high special attack. although all of this can become a little irrelevant now that d/p have come out. so for example, metagross can take advantage of its psychic type and high attack with moves like zen headbutt.

but as for the ghosts, ive often thought the same thing. do they exist just to make it difficult to get around certain places during the game? like a cave full of zubats that use superonic can just get so annoying. for competitive battling, ghosts arent used much at all, with a couple of notable exceptions (gengar, dusclops mainly). but those moves confuse ray, will-o-wisp, destiny bond etc are pretty good. w-o-w can stop a physical sweeper from destroying your team. and if your opponent has a kyogre out with 6 calm minds under its belt, then you can just send out a fast gengar with destiny bond and sacrifice it for the sake of killing the kyogre. people hate when that happens!!!!

It seems Normal-Types also tend to have high HP counts, Sp. Def.
I have noticed this, but it really varies, and the prodigies(such as Lucario) who get a huge odd stat(Sp. Att on a fighting in his case) are just exceptions.

Usually the stats are similar because the design is. Pachirisu and Pikachu both are rodents, so they have high speed. Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan both have human-like characteristics, so blah blah blah you get it.

But there are no pokemon like DRIFLOON.

Yeah there's definite stat similarities between the types. It was probably done that way so that types are more predictable in how they will act, i.e. it allows for more specialization. Then they threw the odd types like electric/water or water/steel and throw us for a loop. :P

Definately. Flying types have high speed and low defense, Bug types are your classic great early game but low overall stats types, Dragons are opposite to the bugs, Fire has high attack, water has good defenses and or HP, Earth is durable and good attack. There are clearly trends in the types.
