Whoa there are a lot of posts here! I'll share mine I guess...

1. {charizard} 'FN DRAGON! Male
2. {raichu} ELF EARS Male
3. {nidoking} MAI BOI
4. {nidoqueen} LADY GAGA
5. {marowak} PINKAMENA Female
6. {vaporeon} MITTROMNEY Male

Why these names?
1. It's a mother friggin DRAGON! YEAH!
2. Name. Says. All. Take a good long look, you'll see it.
3. I have no idea how to explain this.

I'll have to use Pinkanema sometime, that's funny. My names are all random and relate to the Pokemon itself, the individual in some way.
Fast (To my mind) Ralts = Dasher.
Shiny Ralts = Sparkle.
It just makes sense.
Other good names;
Kirlia = Twirla
Budew = Lotus
Piplup = Rascal (Because he looked like a troublemaker when I first played Pokemon)
Shinx = Spark/Sparkler
Chimchar = Bright (The flame on his tail was blinding! Ok, not really.)

I give my pokemon long nicknames that involve them in some way. I have a gardevoir that boosts it's evasion then chips away at their health with Psychic and Toxic. It's nickname is Tormentor which is short for Gardevoir the Tormentor. Or my Castform that I named Stormagdon which is short for Stormageddon: Bringer of Death because storms.

On the previous page, I posted about my Rapidash, but I'm doing another HG game and I want to nickname all my Pokemon.

{meganium} Solanum: Solar + Meganium, and I surprisingly noticed a bit later that "Solanum" mean "Potato" in latin.

{pidgeot} Ace: She's Timid, so she gets a boost in speed.

I'll update when I get more Pokemon in my team.

Post subject:  Re: Nicknames Thread

I usually give them French-ish names, many times in some way derived from their official French name. In Pokémon Blue, my team was:

{charizard} - Dracau, from its French name Dracaufeu (Fire Dragon) - ♂
{victreebel} - Bella, which is more Italian than French, but this was because of there being a 'bell' sound in all its evolutions' names. - ♀
{dugtrio} - Piko, from its French name Triopikeur (Three Miners, I believe) - ♂
{ninetales} - Renée, from its French name Feunard, which means Fire Fox. Renard is fox in French, and Renée sounds like that, so... - ♀
{flareon} - Roli, from its French name Pyroli. - ♂
{magmar} - Colvert, which means 'mallard', because for some reason 'mar' reminds me of the word 'mallard'. - ♂

And then my other guys that I didn't really use on my team. Like, ever.

{hitmonchan} - Jackie. Guess where that's from! Roseanne... - ♂
{lapras} - Lukas, from its French name Lokhlass. - ♂
{kabuto} - Trilo. According to Bulbapedia, these dudes are based on trilobites. So, Trilo. - ♂
{aerodactyl} - Terry. Its French name is Ptéra, and I was going to call it Terra, but in LeafGreen (which is where I got all these dudes' genders) it was a dude, so I changed it to Terry. - ♂
{moltres} - I was going to call it Moltrois, but in the end I decided not to give Moltres a nickname. I don't really think it makes sense to give a unique Pokémon a nickname. It's not like you'll mix it up with someone else's Moltres... I did, however, rewrite it so it wasn't all capitalized.

Something I just noticed: all these names are disyllabic. Totally not on purpose. And also, Lukas and Moltres are the only ones I used (for Surf and Fly, respectively) aside from my main team, and they're the only ones whose names end in a hard sound. Colvert ends in a soft sound, like Stephen Colbert from the Colbert Report. Parce qu'il est français.

Oh, I might as well share the names of my other two teams (a water one and a grass one).
{blastoise} - Cara ♀ {beedrill} - Dardeur ♂ {raichu} - Surri ♀ {vaporeon} - Kali ♀ {tentacruel} - Firos ♂ {starmie} - Staros {articuno} - Cuno (to keep up with the disyllable thing goin' on)
{venusaur} - Rizar ♂ {victreebel} - Victor ♂ {graveler} - Kailu ♀ {parasect} - Neo ♂ {jolteon} - Tali ♀ {exeggutor} - Koko ♀ {zapdos} - Zapdos (just made it not all capitalized)

{arbok} Rattle M

Black:
{serperior} Crest M
{volcarona} Morgan F
{mienshao} Kyoryokuna M

{swanna} Crystal F

So.. Is Volcarona Morgan Freeman? Like I'm not even joking. Did you have that in mind when naming it?

Oh my god, no, haha! The letters on the right indicate gender, lmao but let's just pretend for a minute that I'm a comedic genius ;)
