Which one is better? In my opinion I like Beedrill more

looks better, of course, but is much better, since he can learn sleep powder, psychic, etc. But you can still learn toxic with which one is a really great move. Sludge bomb, twinedle, toxic, aerial ace or sword dance may be the best moveset on this pokemon.

I'm personally of the Butterfree camp. Sleep Powder coupled with Compoundeyes can be hellish to deal with in the proper circumstances.

Based on Moves, Power, Stats, or Looks? It depends.

I think Butterfree is better, since it can learn sleep powder and a lot of great moves. It's Sp. Attack is high and that makes it a good pokemon.

Butterfree. Nothing can beat butterflies. Also, I always found it more useful than Beedrill.

If you're more aggressive, Beedrill. If you like setting up and stuff, Butterfree.
Or you could get a good bug type. That works too.

Butterfree! I've always liked how it looks and it has a better moveset.

As of Gen V, Beedrill has an expanded movepool thanks to the tutors. It now gets, among other things, Drill Run and Electroweb. Most bug types can't beat that in terms of coverage.

I've found that Beedrill is more useful with my team than Butterfree. Quite useful against them pesky Psychics in Gen I.
