Sorry if there has been a topic like this in the past, but it's quite an interesting one imo.

My vote gos for the mettalics generation (GSC).
Reasons: No stupid natures to irritate you. (lol, save them for Netbattle imo)
Most of my faves exist in them. (Heracross, Lugia, Suicune, Mantine, Ho-oh, Yanma etc.)
Day / Night, quite a lot of custom balls, best legendaries (In my opininion, if you disagree that's fine, but no flaming/considering this a flame to the others, I like 97/8% of all pokemon probably, lol), National park, and mainly all of those places in the game with that excellent feel to them...

This Poll shall run for 2 weeks, and please note this isn't a battle over which is the best. I fit was there'd be a chance of a Flame/Spam war being provoked.

NOTE:: The reaon LG and FR weren't there is because I wasn't sure to add them to the poll or just make them count under RBY.

I voted for S/G/C

Why?

- A lot of new, cute pokemon
- Night/Day/Morning effects
- Cool legendaries like Lugia, 3 dogs or Ho-oH
- I can make new friends who call me or I can call them
- Great Towns, every Town has own, orignal story.
- Nice places like Lake Of Rage, Dragon Den, roads etc.

Its all about the games.

About second generation of pokemon:
My favourite because how I said earlier: cute, sweet, crazy pokemon ;) Chikorita rules the world!

Yeah, this has been done already, but I'm too lazy to look into it.

Number one choice:
Gold/Silver/Crystal

This game had everything. The graphics were superior, the all new pokemon were awesome, and it had the longest story. Pokemon was definitely at it's peak when GSC came out. The game features were awesome as well.

-In game clock
-Extra item space
-New pokemon
-Awesome legendary dogs
-New Gym Leaders, plus the originals
-Phone

Number two choice: Red/Blue/Yellow

Who doesn't love the original? Yellow version was my first pokemon game ever, and definitely one of my favorites. This game wasn't nearly as detailed as GSC, but it was still great. The memories I have playing this generation for hours are always in the back of my mind. Oh, and most of all, the difficulty level for this game was really high for me, because I was still a kid when I played it.

Number three choice: Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald

Overall, this generation wasn't too bad, it just had horrible pokemon. The Regis were boring, and so was Rayquaza. Not much to say about this game, because the others were much better.

Number four choice: LeafGreen/FireRed

...Yeah, cheap immitation. It was great to get the rest of the Kanto/Johto pokemon from, but other than that, it was pretty boring.

Edit: Poll edited to include FireRed/LeafGreen

G/S/C was definantly the best, and R/B/Y comes next. Although the 3rd generation was okay, the 2nd and 1st were the best byfar. And the game was far better.

I voted for RBY because:

~ Most of my favorite pokemon existed that time. (Lapras, Bulbasaur, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Squirtle, Charmender etc...).

~ Nice places like: Pallet Town, Cinaber Island, Safaron City etc...

~Legendaries ( the 3 birds, Mew and Mewtwo).

~ Favorite Starters.

~ Favorate Region.

Gold/Silver/Crystal stomp all the others! Gold was the first Pokemon game (or, for that matter, my first GB game) that I ever played, and I've still got the memories of my holiday that I got the game for! If a proper reason is required, then:

A lot of RSE Pokemon look rubbish *cough* {spheal} *cough*

Crystal is the longest Pokemon game ever

Gold and Crystal have the most interesting features, i.e. night and day

Quagsire, Ampharos, Umbreon, Espeon and loads of my favourite Pokemon were invented for Gold (yes, I know that my favourite Pokemon list is fairly copied off everyone else's)

The music was actually better in places than RSE (Dragon's Den has the BEST music in any Pokemon game)

There were some really awesome bits (Radio Tower, Rocket Base, Olivine Tower) that absolutley laugh at pale imitations like freeing the Weather Institute in Ruby

You could get a varied team quite quickly

Gold has aged like Super Mario Bros. (still great fun even if the graphics are Shuckle (hey! It really is fun to replace swear words with Pokemon names!))

Overall, I have to say that RSE come a close 2nd only due to the addition of a few good Pokemon (Lombre, Flygon, etc.) and the fact that they're the latest generation so far. FRLG is a bit too similar to RBY, and RBY itself looks really dated now.

My favourite is the Red/Blue/Yellow. Mainly Red and Blue because I love glitches and this game has a lot and those are the only games you can get Mew in without going to an event ( I'm not sure if you can get the Mew glitch in Yellow).

FR/LG

Everything that was great about RBY and then some. Including, of course, the greatest item in all pokemon games, the versus seeker.

G/S/C gets my 1st place vote.

LG/FR gets 2nd.

R/S/E gets 3rd.

R/B/Y gets 4th.

Theres something very unique about G/S/C that makes it so popular. Im not greatly sure what, maybe its because of all the game features it has that other pokemon games dont actually have. E.G Train, Radio, Bug Catching Competitions, two regions. Lots of gyms. So on and so fourth.

G/S/C
