Post subject:  Favorite Christmas Songs

I think everyone here has a favorite Christmas song, So I think a thread for them is in order.

I personally prefer traditional Christmas songs, (like carols) But if you want to post rock, I won't stop you. You can also add more than one song. Hymns are Okay too, as long as they are Christmas related. (Athiests, You needn't be offended, this is Christmas, a time to be jolly and joyous! :D)

One of my favorite Songs of the season is: I heard the bells on Christmas day.
(Link has Lyrics and a computerized playback in the upper left corner.)

It's a bit sad, yet seems to be so much like the world today, something I frequently morn over, this song helps me look past that, and remember to be cheerful. (See Ending verse). :)

I really like Jingle Bell Rock for some reason, as well as Let it Snow and Feliz Navidad. There are others too, but I can't remember the names/haven't heard them in ages.

There's some song with Snoopy and the Red Baron (I think it's called Christmas Bells, anyway the chorus goes like "Christmas bells, those Christmas bells/Ringing through the land/Bringing joy to all on earth/And good will in haaaaand") that's probably my favorite.

I also like Feliz Navidad, Dominic(k?) the Donkey (for lulz, I love singing it), and Jingle Bell Rock.

I kind of have narrow tastes. I hate slow songs (some are okay, I just don't like them in general), and after a while that song about the starving people in Africa gets annoying considering they've played it like 200 times in the one hour each weekday that I ride the bus.

I really like the Alvin and the Chipmunks song too. My friend keeps walking up to me and singing "i still want a HULAAAA HOOOOP". :p

jingle bell rock (mean girls version!!)
little drummer boy
oh holy night (as long as it isn't oversung)
silent night (i like lisa hannigan's (aka damien rice's ex-bandmate) version the best, even though she's altered most of the lyrics)
let it snow

my carols sound best when's they're sung a cappella, without mainstream covering them up 8-)

I practically despise all Christmas songs. The only one I like is "Little Drummer Boy." That is only because I make the lyrics sound dirty. Too many years of being around people I guess.

I like Silent Night, sung softly, with a guitar playing quietly in the background, and maybe a violin.

Also Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, and another christmas parody song, but I forget its name. It was about Santa going crazy or something like that.

If you dare play "grandma got run over by a reindeer" I swear, I'll gouge your eyes out. But if you play just about any other Christmas song... I guess I'll try to give your eyes back... somehow... Then again, I probably won't have a sharp object on me at the time, so I guess I'd just kick you.

Still, I like just about any Christmas song besides Grandma got run over by a reindeer.

Lol. I've not watched that film yet this year, damn.

I'd just like to point out that I bloody made this thread in the Music part of Psypokes; I was tempted to do it in here but I thought I might get "in trouble" as its about songs.
The other thread may as well be locked now.

Well, my favourite Christmas song is the brilliant 'Fairytales of New York' by The Pogues. Then it's Chris De Burgh 'A Spaceman Came Travelling'; Jona Lewie 'Stop the Cavalry' and my fourth favourite is Greg Lake 'I believe in Father Christmas'.

Hymns... I like 'Silent Night, Holy Night' and a couple of others.

Yes. I actually first heard this song two weeks before Christmas in 2006, and it wasn't the original, it was the cover version by a band called No Use for a Name, and I've loved it ever since.

As far as traditional songs go... Pretty much Winter Wonderland and the really standard stuff like that.

Oh, and the "Let There Be Snow" song from Frosty Returns. :[

|All I Want for Christmas is You| - |Mariah Carey|

There's no competition. Really. Not a song in the world even comes close. The lyrics, the tune, the chimes, all of it, it's wonderful. Oh, and on the album cover she dresses in a female Santa suit without looking like a total hobag. Props.

My favourite christmas song is one you probably wont really understand unless you unless you are fluent in german and english. It is called Merry Christmas Allerseits bei Udo Jürgens and it mixes english and german. :D
