I don't wanna bash people's opinions, but I think we should all check out this wonderful site: www.metal-archives.com It saved me from mainstream crud like Nu metal (mallcore), metalcore, and melodeath. Give this site a try! I did (hint, hint).

In my opinion Megadeth is way better that Metalica. I feel that Metallica is overrated, i'm not saying that I don't like Metallica but after hearing Megadeth's "Rust in Piece" album, I feel that that album destroys Metallica's "Master Of Puppets"

My personal favorite is melodic death. Fav band=In flames. My other favorites are Dark Tranquillity Scar Symmetry Amon Amarth Skyfire Blinded Colony Although In Flames have moved towards a more alternative metal approach, they have blended it well with the melodeth style, I think, and they are still my favorite.

Half of what I'm hearing isn't even metal, most of it's rock. Try things like Rob/White Zombie, Amon Amarth, Dimmu Borgir, Cannibal Corpse, Cradle of Filth, Eluviete, Ensifirum, or Dethklok. Those are metal, heavy metal, thrash metal, or folk metal! That's real music.

I am so glad that there's a ton of fellow metalheads here. My favorite band? I don't have one! I have over 2,000 songs on my MP3 player, so I would say any band on there. My favorite songs? That can be answered: "Relentless" - Strapping Young Lad "Her Ghost in the Fog" - Cradle of Filth "Tear it Down" - Hatebreed "Set to Fail" - Lamb of God "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" - Dimmu Borgir "Are You Dead Yet?" - Children of Bodom "War Ensemble" - Slayer If you really are a metalhead: 1. You can't put a genre label on Strapping Young Lad other than extreme metal. 2. Slayer can kick the (censored) out of Metallica. 3. You hate all of the trendy pop stars and wish that some would just go die. 4. You can't name a favorite band, much less a favorite song. (The few I named were just a few.) 5. You do your best to spread the metal to all around you. 6. You're welcome to any type of metal. (I can somehow justify mentioning Limp Bizkit and SYL in the same breath.)

I agree with Psper12. I like Megadeth a lot better than Metallica, but I was never a Metallica fan to begin with. I really like black metal, thrash metal, and melo-death I guess you would call it. Some bands I really like are: Hypocrisy Arch Enemy Cradle of Filth (old and new) Dimmu Borgir Testament (I saw them live with Judas Priest) Disarmonia Mundi Funeris Nocturnum Exodus Death Angel Alghazanth Children of Bodom Norther I also really like industrial bands like Aesthetic Perfection and Psyclon Nine

I enjoy quite a few variations on Metal, from the Rap-Metal of Mudvayne to the hardcore of Lamb of God. I don't really like metal too much mainly because my friend is obsessed with it but some of my favorites are Chop Suey by System of a Down Nightmare buy Avenged Sevenfold and Through the Fire and Flames by Dragonforce.

Mostly good stuff to the one above me. My faves are: KoRn- Someone said Pantera is Nu-Metall and therefore, sucks. Two reasons why this is wrong; KoRn invented Nu-Metal, and KoRn is ****ing 'am-aza-zing'. But listen to to their new album 'The Path To Totality'. That is all... For now.
