Well, normally these sorts of polls don't really intrigue me, but I absolutely love the Simpsons. Honestly, before today, I've never really thought about who my favorite character is, but I voted for Bart. He is easy-going, and lives to just make some mischief and have fun. You gotta love him. My second favorite character would have to be Homer with his crazy antics. I'm definitely looking forward to the 16th season this Sunday.

I think my all-time favourite has to be Comic Book Guy, although Cletus, Professor Frink, Grandpa, Homer and Groundskeeper Willie (!!!) also come up. Yay Simpsons!

I picked Lisa because she's the only intellegent one in the entire series. I also enjoy Bart, Milhouse, and Maggie (for Seasons 1-9 because after that, the show went downhill in my opinion. It's still my favorite show, but I feel they should've quit while they were ahead.).

I voted Lisa because she is a character that's like me. ^_^ I love the Simpsons! That's our favorite show to watch as a family. Their family is very similar to ours... and we laugh because of the similarites. XD I have seen most of the episodes and I can pick out a lot of quotes from the show. ^_^ They are so funny!
"Me fail English? That's unpossible." - Ralph
"You've said that so many times it's lost all meaning." - Homer
"I've come here to win back Brandine. She's been making eyes at that feller that come to document our squalor." - Cletus
"Best...death...ever." - Comic Book Guy
I'll stop now. ^_^;

My fave part is when he is arguing with Marge about the Mr.Plow truck and he says "Fine. I'll never do something stupid again..." then he walks into the truck door. Marge says "Homer, Are you alright?" and he says "Yes, I'm fine" and his face is flat and scrunched up.

I think that's the episode where Homer goes to rock camp. Along with Mick and Keith, he meets Elvis Costello (Elvis Costello has the greatest line in the whole show; "My image!"), Tom Petty and Lenny Kravitz. (If I remember correctly). It's not that good of an episode, seems like a whole episode of just senseless name dropping, as is the norm with most simpsons episodes these days.
Recently, (well, since around 2000) The Simpsons has been on a downward spiral in quality. It seems that the episodes these days are written by people who were already fans of the simpsons, and seems a lot more like a fanfic than an actual episode. Characters are no longer developed, but milked dry of what made them funny in earlier seasons. Bart's character was single-handedly crushed when he left home and met Tony Hawk. Homer has been reduced to being just plain stupid, and nowhere near as funny. Ralph is left with contrived one liners every time he's on screen.
Watching older episodes right before/after a new episode makes this all too apparent: The Simpsons died as soon as the show starting going "The Simpsons are going to <insert location>!!!", and guest stars are now appearing left right and centre (Simon Cowell, wtf?), and celebrities are now playing themselves a lot more, as compared to when they just voiced special characters with subtle hints to who they really were. It has become a more 'we must have one laugh per minute' show; It's forced humour. It has now become awkward to watch the new episodes with my family because after every failed joke there is silence, and it's a very depressing reminder of how the mighty have fallen.
I would have been much more happy if the Simpsons ended around the time Futurama was gaining speed and passed the torch onto Futurama and have Groening run with that for a good 10+ years.
Now we're left with B-grade (barely) Simpsons and no Futurama...

i love the episode 'Screamapillar' when homer has to take care of a screaming catepillar. homer would get in trouble if it died, and he thought it died(but it didnt) so homer buried the screamapillar in the backyard. when the guy came over to get the screamapillar, homer said he lost it. then they heard screams from the backyard. i was LMAO!!!

I am a huge fan of the Simpsons as well. Favourite characters include Hans Moleman, Cletus, Professor Frink, Comic Book Guy, Duffman, and the one-eyebrow baby who used to be Maggie's enemy. I have seasons 1-5 on DVD and will most likely buy up to 9 or 10. After that, as some of you have said, the show decreases in quality. Because it still rates well in America, theyre dragging it out. The episodes recently here were "Bart goes to a 50 cent concert" wtf. "Springfield leagalises gay marriages" wtf. and my LEAST favourite episode of all time, the one with Ray Romano as a roofer. When guest stars used to go on the simpsons, they would voice a character that wasn't themselves like Michelle Pfeiffer. Ray Romano freaking gave a plug for his TV show at the end. What. The. Hell.
I agree with Eighteen. Futurama was going great and the Simpsons was going downhill fast. The should have finished the Simpsons while they were ahead, and continued on with Futurama.

I agree, the way he talks crack me up every single time.
"PLEASE! Can I use your bathroom?!"
"No, the bathroom is for paying costumers only, if you purchase an item, you may use the... "Bathroom..." "
"Please keep your hands off the desk, it contains a very rare Mary Worth, thank you!"
And the favourite:
Don't really remember what happened up to this point, it was a meteor or nuclear bomb or something. Then zooming in on the comic book guy.. "Oh.. I've wasted my life." BOOM!

At 5 O'clock we (my sister, dad, and me) watch The Simpsons. So I would be a fan of The Simpsons. I even have Road Rage (GC) and Hit and Run (PS2). I would have to say Homer, because the funny characters are the stupid ones. And I didn't see why they had to cancell Futurama. Couldn't they have worked on both. Sometimes I see my family as the Simpsons. Like the show when Lisa and Bart both had to go to third grade, yeah that happened to me, but I had to repeat third grade because I did poorly on english and my sister (a.k.a. Star) moved on to third grade normally.
