Well, seeing as there are only two so far and the second one isn't complete, I wouldn't call it a series. However, it is a good story.

To be honest, Psypoke is EXTREMELY lenient about what is an 'acceptable' fanfic and what isn't. I haven't really seen anyone post that things are bad, but you should see the fic section of Serebii's forums.

Trust me guys, it ain't pretty. Everyone is so, SO cruel. I'm thankful theres a place I know I could post something without being absolutely blasted, should I want to.

I decided to bring this over to a more appropriate thread. I never go to that site, since I'm not a memeber [makes sense] and because my computer really hates that site for some reason [it rarely loads it]. But, I went over to Serebii and looked at their rules thread and their advice thread. They had some good things in the advice thread, but I didn't agree with some of the things they said.

Based on the rules alone, I would definitly say that PsyPoke is a much friendlier enviroment for new writers. The more advanced you get the rougher the people are. They don't want to feel like they're handling china, they expect you to get past that part of your development. They'll usually be civil about it, but get defensive and a swarm attack you and leave you to the vultures. *shivers* Oh GaiaOnline.

Serebii Forums Fan-Fic Rules wrote:
If your fanfiction is considered virtually unreadable due to bad quality, lack of paragraphs etc, you will be instructed to go read Advice for Aspiring Authors, these Rules and the thread will be closed.

However, if it is readable but still below an average quality level, you will be warned to make improvements based on what you are given by the next chapter to get it to a basic level. If this is not done, your thread will be closed.

This helps people improve how? They seem a bit over zealous to use their moderator powers. Personally, I like what we do here over what they do over there. Say I wrote something that was below their 'basic' level or it was positively horrendous and they locked the thread. Chances are, I wouldn't know why they did it. I would know that it was not 'readable' by their standards but I wouldn't know what made it that way.

To me these writing forums and sites are a way to make the world smaller and connect people of all skill levels not just people at a certain level and above. Sure I understand why they are so...demanding, reading poorly written work isn't fun; but, does that excuse cutting the person off from the valuable experience of commentary? It's profiling and seperating the great, good, and the bad. They should all support each other, especially the bad so that way they can contribute back once they've become 'good'.

I've ran into an emergency, I've ran out of ideas and insparation for Deoxys, the true story. [As you see I haven't updated since May the tenth.] Should I give up and start over? I'm getting fresher and more original ideas that wouldn't fit in their, and for my last 2 chapters each got only 1 comment which sapped away my insparation. Should I quit and start with a fresher idea?

You're psychic. I was planning things such as Drakrai sending Deoxys to the Darkness realm, being slaughtered by Giratina and having to team up with Arceus. It's just where I am in the story that's giving me a writer's block. Though you just urged me to continue kbowing that I have fans. :D

*Le gasp* Oh no, not writer's block! All dramatics aside, you should definitly not give up. I understand the frustration of running out f ideas, it's happened many atime to myself and countless other authors. There is, infact, a method that typically works to cure this ailment. It's called a break. Take a breather from your story, don't think about it, start something different. Why do you think I write so many one-shots? I don't want to get bogged down in a story and then completely lose interest in it. I haven't posted a chapter to Guessing Game or Prince of Peace since April.

I'm just getting around to working on both. I have 3 stories I haven't updated in at least 7 months each but I've been working on them lately. If you push yourself too hard you run dry, you'll exhaust your imagination [not to mention your fingers from all the typing]. Like I said, take a break and think of a different story. Work on something else and after a while, which is subjective to you, head back to it and work on it. It should be easier for you that way.

I know a lack of reviews is really depressing, trust me it's practically the story of my life; but, don't let it get to you too much. Like I keep saying, write for yourself first and just because no one comments doesn't mean no one's reading. And it most definitly doesn't mean to stop writing a story. Don't quit, just take a break from it. Maybe, go read some stories [on the forum or otherwise] and they may inspire you. Be sure to try to comment, they're just as encouraging for the story's writer as they are for you.

If you don't want to do that, head on over to Gaiaonline.com, their writer's forum has a thread [somewhere] that's dedicated to tips on overcomming writer's block.

Off topic, thank you Sparky. I'm hope you have fun with your story.

Wheeeee! I'm being a good girl, for the most part, and writing. Hopefully I'll finish Chapter 8 to Guessing Game later tonight. Let's cross our fingers that I don't get distracted!

Edit: Yay, all done. Now I'm working on Prince of Peace. There's not definite time I'll be done by...or a point where Chapter 5 will end yet. XD

Yea, you know...Some of you guys saw my first fan fic, right? Well, I restarted it, fixed several things, and posted the First Chapter. I have three chapters ready. But the thing is, it might be rather long. And when I say that, I mean maybe 30 chapters long. So yea....

It's called "A Nobody's Adventure" and it's mainly my own region and my own characters, but no new Pokemon. The region is called Naoit. Don't ask me why I called it that. I just pressed random keys.

Main Characters:

George
Age: 18
Male
Appearance: Messy brown hair with a yellow hat, red shirt, and blue pants.
Bio: Born in Noranda Town, George has never left. He has never seen the other towns unless they were on television. He sometimes dreams about going on a journey, but he always ignored them. His Raticate is his best friend. He has a secret crush on June.

June
Age: 17
Female
Appearance: Beautiful dresses and black hair that is always put up.
Bio: Born in Noranda Town, June has been all over the world. Secretly, she never told George that she was rich. She always lied to him about where she was going. She is shy at times, but bold when needed. She has a secret crush on George.

Hope ya like it!

Say... I have a piece that contains quite a bit of blood and features a character offing themselves and its slightly graphic, would I be allowed to post it? And what should I rate it? I want to, but I want to make sure it won't be deleted.

I'd say it really depends on how well it's written. Luckily the site is pretty good with most topics, it's really the quality and skill of the writing that will affect that.

But, I wouldn't worry about how it's recieved more than how much fun you had writing it.

I see you're brand new here.

Don't worry, when you're just starting out here (and before you post you see Crimson rip into somebody) you tend to be pretty nervous.

Just kidding Crimson. Anyways, just don't worry about it, and, as Crimson said, if you have fun writing it, then you'll probably just do fine. I'm actually looking forward to reading it.

I swear my brain and body hate me tonight. Nothing makes sense right now [bad day]. Anywho, I understood it up to the parentheses then my brain went KABOOM. Will someone mend the fragments of it back together [not literally, I just mean explain it]?

I'm a pretty decent writer, I have good grammar and punctuation.

Granted, It would probably be easier (creativity-wise) for me to write in Spanish, but my English grammar is better than my Spanish grammar...(ESL tends to do that to you)

Do you think an mid-80's setting would work? (hums the tune to 'Papa Don't Preach') 'Cause in the [first] Pokemon series, Ash would've had to been born in 1886 to be 10 in 1996.

Author:  Crimson [ Fri Jun 29, 2007 7:48 pm ]
Post subject:

Well if your grammar is decent then you're already off to a good start with me. And I think you mean 1986 not 1886...

Once again, anything would work. We're only really fussy about grammar and spelling [because so many people are new to writing]. They're also the easiest things to get help with. If you're worried about what's permitted and what's not just read some of the stories on here.

I write a lot of things that are out of the Pokemon 'norm,' in fact most of them are original. One's pretty violent in the beginning. For a quick link go here, Crimson's Library.

Psyches has a story that's pretty edgy for the PsyPokes forum. It's recommended that you're 13 or over for this one. Get Real by Psyches. There is a same-gender relationship so if you're against that don't read it. The last thing we need is an argument about morals and ethics.

Do you know any good (if any) Diamonshipping fics? I haven't come across one, ever; which is kinda the reason why I want to write one.

Oops, I got up from the computer at that part, and forgot to finish my thought. :o After all this time, I STILL make mistakes. :(

No I can't say I have come across any, then again I don't exactly go hunting for it...

As I've said, we'd take basically anything, just make sure you've read the rules. There are kiddies on this site and we'd like to think we can keep them innocent [even though that's just a dream on our part].
