Stone Edge, Rock Type
80 Acc
100 Pwr
150 Pwr (Stab)
High Critical Hit Ratio
*This move can dominate anything that is weak against rock, and with the Stab bonus it will do massive damage to anything that is not resestint to it

Rock Slide, Rock Type
90 Acc
75 Pwr
112 Pwr (Stab)
30% chance of making opponet flinch
*Possible Flinching is always a plus but it's power lacks in comparison to Stone Edge, but it Acc is better and that +10 Acc is has over Stone Edge could win or lose a match, it is also good enough to take on anything weak against Rock type

Move is for Tyranitar so it has the Stab bonus for the rock type move

**Do you think Toxic is wasted on a Tyranitar, if so a better attack in its place?**

EVIL BUMPS! Eww, gross, spam.

Anyways, I'd take my chances Stone Edge. You can always pair that up witha pokemon that has Super Luck (I think it's called) that increases the chance of a critical hit. Also...one of the Lens increases critical hit ratio as well.

I'm going with critcals over accuracy for this one simple reason. Criticals, breaks through any type of defense boost your opponent might of had put on themselves. Not to mention, with the STAB bonus it's power wuold be through the roof.

I disagree with Music. Personally, Rock Slide > Stone Edge for me. Let's compare...

Rock Slide VS. Stone Edge
BD: 75 vs. 100
Accuracy: 90 vs. 80
PP: 10 vs. 5

75 BD, with STAB, x10 PP (we'll say it hits 9 out of 10 times though) = 1017 BD
100 BD, with STAB, x5 PP (well say it hits 4 out of 5 times) = 600.

Stone Edge has a "high critical hit ratio" but really, it's all relative to the small chance.

EDIT: The "lens" you guys are thinking of is the Scope Lens.

So a Rockslide with Scope Lens is the best idea?

^Well, no, I never said that. Scope Lens are best paired with moves with high critical hit ratios. Rock Slide's claim to fame is that it can flinch the opponent.

a little question about flinching i have never made my opponet flinch when i attacked second, so does it work ontot he next turn?

Ill save my Scope Lens for Night Slash, and give it a Razor Claw/Fang im pretty sure it's one of em that boost flinching

No, flinching only works if you attack first.

EDIT: Razor Claw raises the chances of a critical hit. Razor Fang raises chances of flinching the opponent.

Stone Edge. Better power, and most Rocks don't have the speed to flinch the foe.

^Yea, and then you'll have Stone Edge missing almost as much as Thunder does, with less PP...

I don't mind if you think Stone Edge has high power. Accuracy over power, lads.

D76 - DDTar is the deadliest physical sweeper you can have. After 2 DDs it can overspeed anything not named AgilityGross or Ninjask and will KO anything not resisting Rock. Talk about a flinching bonus.

Rock Slide is way better are you kidding its a STAB meaning
Same type Attack Bonus. For example Tyranitar is a Rock/Dark type
Rock Slide does 112.5 because its the move that compliments its type.
Its simple to say Rock Slide has the upperhand.Remember multiply
75x1.5=112.5

It's all down to personal preference. Stone Edge has served me a lot better than Rock Slide, so I chose Stone Edge.

Just thought I'd point out that hax items such as Razor Claw are generally banned in competitive play.

Anyway, Rock Slide or Stone Edge both have distinct advantages (as everyone has pointed out already), and should be used according to the moveset your Pokemon is using. For example, if your moveset consists of moves with high accuracy, going with Stone Edge would be safe.

Really? Why? I still never get critical hits with that thing attached.

After re-considering it, I'd say that the faster a Pokemon is, the more I'd rather use Rock Slide.

Stone Edge has the better appeal based on this simple fact:

Critical hits happen whether of not you attack first.

Rock Slide (however more accurate it is) will only make the opponent flinch if you go first, which probably isn't going to happen with Tyranitar unless it uses Dragon Dance.

Good luck getting a tryanitar to live through 2 DDs. In my opinion Rock Slide is better because I agree with Taser in her above post (way up there)

If you did have to put stone edge on there, I would devise an Evil plan. Put Ninjask on your team with Spd Boost. Wait till your HP is under 25% for Leichi berry to kick in (atk is 1.5x when hp is 25% or less). With the gained speed, Baton Pass to tyranitar. Put a wide lens on that beast and swing away. You will have one "dd" from the berry and a lot of speed boosts for a clean sweeper. With the power you get from STAB and that berry it would make a nasty Phys Sweeper and you wouldnt have to worry about being outran and hit by a fighting move.

EDIT: Sorry guys i'm half asleep here, I totally meant to put Ninjask lol.

If you did have to put stone edge on there, I would devise an Evil plan. Put Shedinja on your team with Spd Boost. Wait till your HP is under 25% for Leichi berry to kick in (atk is 1.5x when hp is 25% or less). With the gained speed, Baton Pass to tyranitar. Put a wide lens on that beast and swing away. Ohhh, Geez that's no evil plan...

It's a fiendishly evil plan!!

I like the way you think.
