they kinda are only simaler by the fact that they only work during a switch, past that there isnt anything the same about them

Stealth Rock: damages according to type effectiveness

Toxic Spikes: poisions

Spikes: damages according to percentages
(ex using Spikes 3 times will take out 1/4 you opponents hp)

so basicly it depends on what your looking for, however toxic spikes and spikes don't work on flying types, not quite sure on stealth rock however.

I currently don't use them but i would go with either Spikes or Stealth Rock.

i use steal rock because it can do more damage to types that are weak against rock

But the worse would be toxic spikes in my opinion because it psn the opponet and that takes away from prz, slp frz

Well, they all have their pros and cons. For example, Spikes doesn't hit Levitators/Flying-Types, Posion Spikes doesn't hit Poison Types and Steel Types, and Stealth Rock only nicks types Rock is not very effective against.

I'm going with Stealth Rock. Since it's a TM, loads of Pokemon can learn it. It also works well against Ninjask and Charizard.

Stealth rock is great. 12.5% damage when rock type is neutral, 25% if rock is super effective, 50% on double weak (Charizard, Ho-oh) It's a nice boost to damage. It also ruins Focus Sash users.

Spikes is great as well. Doesn't hit flyers/levitaters...but it is a nice boost. Works best in combo with Stealth rock. Ruins focus sash users.

Toxic spikes, not as great. One layer is poison, two layers is toxic. But then you can't sleep, paralyze, whatever....you need. Also, if they run a Heracross, his Guts ability activates and he sweeps you. Not fun.

If a poison type switches in on Toxic Spikes (Gengar, or others) then they dissapear as well.

To be fair, doesn't it say poison type that doesn't fly or have levitate?

So Really they'd have to switch in a Drapion.

I use Stealth Rock, so I can use Empolean. It just hurts though, when it is not very effective.

You can use Stealth Rock with Spikes at the same time. Not sure about Toxic Spikes...

I think that slealth rock is the best because, it made not do a lot of damage to the steels and ground types but it could ruin their focus sash, if their holding one. It also hits every type, and spikes, and toxic spikes don't
hit flying types and levitators. Remeber the focus sash would be gone. SLEALTH ROCK!!!!!!!!

You could train a Fortress, since he is the only pokemon who can learn all three! :D

I just checked, theres a glitch in the Psydex. When i searched all 3 of those moves, only Forrtress came up, but when i checked Omastar's moveset, he as well could learn all three.

The difference is with Forrtress, he learns both Spikes and Toxic Spikes through level up, and with Omastar, he has to learn both of those through breeding.

I personally use {forrtress} for the type advantage (1 weakness!) but {omastar} is easier to get for some people because you don't need to trad/insert.

Does your forrtress have all 3 of these moves?

It's no glitch; {omastar} can't learn all 3 at one time, but he can learn either spikes or toxic spikes depending on who you breed it with.
But you have the choice of which one to choose. Sorry if there was any confusion...

And BTW, fire and special moves rip through forretress.

I didn't teach it sleath rock on choice, I could if I wanted to but the other two moves are taken (I wrote that, not you).

Forrtress is good, but its not durable enough to pull it off. If you dont mind using skarm-bliss; they can work. Skarmory will manage to pull several layers of spikes against physical sweepers; and blissey is totally going to place stealth rock against special ones.

You also want to use Gengar/Dusknoir to block spinner.

Uh, Forretress's defense is as good as Skarmory's.

Yes, but Forrtress has a 4x weakness against fire.

And it doesn't has as many resistances as skarmory; it can't switch into EQ either, and it lacks Roar/whirlwind to use spikes properly.
