Okay, this ability is beginning to confuse me. When a two pokes of the same gender battle, the one with rivalry is supposed to get a boost in attack by one level. How does it work? I've never seen my Nidoking get an attack stat boost from this ability. Is the stat boost invisible? And if Nidoking beats a male poke and another comes out is his attack power x2 now? Please someone help me.

From what I gather, Rivalry is indeed an invisible stat boost.

I am guessing that as well.

as far as i can tell, if your pokemon has rivalry, its attacking moves will do 1.5 times as much damage to the opponent if they are of the same gender. so its not like it goes up everytime someone of the same gender comes out. in that way its a bit different to abilities like intimidate which can be used several times.

I have one more question. Is it more effective to Choice Band a Jolly Nidoking or Choice Scarf an Adamant one?

Um, why even use Nidroking? It has crappy stats.

Only because I like Nidoking. If I'm competing in anything I won't use him, but in battles with my friends that I know I can beat it's fun to use cool pokes.

choice band on a jolly nidoking will boost its attack by 50% and its speed by 10%.
choice scarf on an adamant nidoking will boost its attack by 10% and its speed by 50%.
both of course mean you have to switch out if you need to change moves. if your nidoking has high speed IVs (and max EVs) and a chjoice scarf it will pretty much outspeed everything, except the outliers (electrode, ninjask, and various forms of deoxys). so thats good, but its attack isnt really all that fearsome - to put it into perspecaive, it is only marginally higher than raichu.
so in my opinion it would be better to go for adamant and choice band (i know it wasnt one of your options). just deal way more damage (max att of about 450-460), and face it that nidoking is somewhat slow.
