I'm starting to build my team up, i'm wanting a Ninjask for powering up my sweeper, i'm wondering if to go for...

Focus Sash
-Protect
-Detect
-Batton Pass

This'll give plenty of speed but i could put a move in there for sopping up the Focus Sash turn, this'll give my next poke i'm putting out great speed for sweeping, Ninjask can't learn nasty plot so it won't be much good for setting up my Azelf (my favourite sinnoh poke)
When i get a psysical sweeper this should go well with them, he can't learn Calm mind so i think i should forget about BPing to Azelf...
I could always teach him a defencive stat move to get the sweeper some more staying power.

What do you guys think?

You DO know that after using Protect, Detect's chance of working gets lower, and vice versa? It's just like using Protect or Detect twice. Anyway, you might wanna give it Swords Dance and an attacking move, and add either Protect or Substitute. Go for a nature that ups speed. EVs: 252 Spd, 252 Atk, 6 Hp. I'm 50% sure about the evs, but the moveset seems fine.

Protect 1st turn, Swords Dance 2nd, Protect again 3rd, and you BP 2 Atk and 3 Spd boosts.

I give mine Sub over Aerial Ace, as I almost never need an attack move on it, and Sub can be used to block status moves so I can SD a few times. It's your choice, though.

yeah, the Protect/Detect combo is for stalling for more speed. the sub could be nice for the switched in as it could safely use it's own powering up move twice (it'd have a focus sash too) or one if it's wearing a item to make it's attacks stronger.

ah, Sion, your post apearered between me reading the one before you and posting mine, your moveset seems more my style. with the substitute... will i ever get a chance to make use of the focus sash? if it where to be switched for something more leftovers like i could squeeze out more subs while getting the higher speed.

Sub is only if you know the opponent will use a status move (Protect 1st turn, they might think you don't have Sub...). Otherwise use Protect, SD, Protect, BP.

that sounds nice, but you missed my point, if you sub you cut your hp, if you cut your hp the focus sash is renderered useless, so might there be a more useful item?

the point of Focus Sash is to allow you to Swords Dance at least once. If they use a status move, and you predict it and sub, then you can use SD at least once also (maybe more, if they have to switch)

ah! i get you! the subs optional! if you counter a status ailment you end up with a sub protected free turn and if you don't use it you get a focus band protectect free turn!!! nice one!

Just seen another Ninjask topic saying Protect, Sub, Protect, Sub... (slot in sword dance when useful)...

I have this exact poke, it works out pretty darn well. I use DT a lot, when they start to miss my Sub stays up and I start to SD. Also, even though it says it takes 1/4 of your HP for a sub, it doesn't. For some reason it takes a little less making it so you can get in 4 subs and activate the berry.

If your Ninjask's HP is not divisible by 4, it won't take exactly 1/4. (It takes 1/4, rounded down).

However, that set sort of depends on getting a DT and surviving the 1st turn cause the attack misses, right? Almost any pokemon can OHKO the sub, so it likely won't survive more than 1 turn without DTs.

not to mention double team is for n00bs... the word "cheap" and "hax"come to mind.

EVs are ALWAYS 252 ATK 252 SPD and 4 HP UNLESS your going for 4 substitutes. Then pour however many HP EVs youll need. Anywhere from 0 to 12. Take from attack EVs.

Moveset, to set up for a physical sweeper that i'll no doubt make at a later date, Is it worth breeding for a nature? or even good IVs? i see that Attk won't be needed for this fella, so should he get a Def/Sp Def EV nugget? or even HP? though that may mess up the 4 subs moveset. What do you guys think?
