Heya, i'd had a thought a while back and wondererd if it could work... i'm thinking of a pokemon with the moveset,

Stat Raising Defencive Move
Mean Look
Batton Pass

A pokemon that comes to mind is Espeon, the idea is, lure out a Hazer/Pheudo Hazer, Trap them, batton pass. i supose it wouldn't work well with whirilwinders/Roarers but if it'd work then it'd find and Set up the Hazer of a team against an opponent it can't beat eliminating it and alowing my team to Power up all they want.

Is there any cons to this? i like the idea of it and i feel nice that i thought of it. Has anyone had this idea before? Thanks.

an interesting idea, except for the problem you already pointed out: Mean Look + BP fails to phazing. Maybe, then, you should consider other counters. 2 common hazer/phazers are Skarmory and Weezing, and both don't like special attacks. You could use the Espeon with Calm Mind, and HP Fire/HP Electric for Skarmory (and Psychic for Weezing).

a HP fire/psycis would possibly be my best bet... it's just i've recently taken to stat razing moves and the thing where they can be made to be wasted peeves me. if i can get one to try out i'd need a suitable test, i've been reduced to using ubers as my proper team in the making isn't ready yet (still breeding training and finding items/TMs). something with ingrain and batton pass sounds atractive but it sounds like putting too much investment into one stratygy...

well actually ur investing too much into one poke
no poke should b an end all, if it is its too good and shouldn't b used

moveset and poke?

no poke is an "end all", but if you can come up with a difficult to counter strategy, it can be very effective, at least until people start including counters in their teams.

IIRC, the only poke that can BP Ingrain is Smeargle
Ingrain
BP
Sub
Spore

That's a decent anti phazer strategy, but doesn't block hazing. I think, though, that Espeon with anti (p)hazer moves would be better than trapping the hazer.

hmm... well, at anyrate i still like the idea of trapping and dooming foes and should it be the team hazer then all the better! What's more common? hazing or pHazing? and... does Espeon have the defences to take 2 hits?

Edit: Umbreon was the poke i mean't but possibly the speed of Espeoon could work well with a Focus Sash, I'm adamant about going throught with this idea and telling y'all how it goes. I'm just wondering if most trainers idea when they see someone using the likes of calm mind is to switch in and Haze them.

I don't understand, are you just talking about mean look passing? People have been doing that forever, especially now that taunting is getting to be an issue.

yes, pretty much. Only specific to hazer/phazers.

If you want, then maybe try giving Umbreon Curse. Not the best set...but you might get a hazer/phazer to switch in, then Mean Look them.

Umbreon @ Lefties
Curse
Mean Look
BP
Payback

hmm...then you should start off with Smeargle, BP Ingrain to Umbreon.

I would just forget it, though - it's too much trouble. Might as well have a counter like the Espeon I suggested earlier, or have a pokemon with Taunt.

I like the Espeon that Sion mentioned earlyer, the whole idea is to lure them. once i kill there sweeper either through attack or mean look passing i can power up all i like.
