Recently I have been training an Armaldo and found that it is quite strong in battle and seen that its 125 base attack and 100 base defence can be very destructive in some situations. Despite this though it has terrible speed so i counter this i thought of the moveset:

Armaldo@focus sash
Naughty(although Adamant would be better)
EVs: 252attack 250 Def 8HP

Rock polish
Earthquake
X-scissor
Rock Blast/ Stone edge

The moveset hits every type for at least neutral damage. Focus sash is so it can survive 1 hit and ensure rock polish is used and sweep accordingly. But in doing this you only make sure it is hitting opponents not ensureing the KO so i thought you could give it a shell bell and swords dance and baton pass it speed. Making it even more leathal. I just wanted to hear peoples opinion on it all.....

YEah, that's a pretty great set, the idea of Focus Stat Upping is becoming quite popular.

However, what you have to watch out for is fast/priority revenge Pokemon, like Weavile. While you're left with 1HP and +2 Attack, you're all set to sweep, right?

Wrong. If it were me, I'd then send in my Swellow and Quick Attack and due to the influx of Focus Stat Uppers, priority moves like that (Ice Shard Weavile was prevalent in teams anyway) are becoming equally as popular.

So, it's a cool set, but it may only take out one Pokemon...on the other hand, they're great for sweeping the hell out of noobs. :P

so does that make the BP speed idea more useful as it has the shell bell for HP recovery?

Shell Bell is actually a pretty poor move. I used one on my Gyarados, and after two DDances, I was sweeping the hell out of things, but not really getting that much HP back. The only instance in which it would be helpful is if you were up against Blissey, and then you'd be recovering stuff like no tomorrow. :P

However, you could use a Ninjask set to pass both Speed AND attack to Armaldo, and then you could put Rapid Spin over Swords Dance on Army.

Even better, you could just throw it on a Trick Room team, and then the speed isn't an issue. :P

First of all, your ev spread is way off. if you want rock polish to do something, you'd have to max out speed evs. otherwise, its doubling like a 120 speed stat, and you're still only at 240. (slow). and always work in fours with ev spreads. i'd say 252 speed and attack, the rest on hp. this is basically the same as my rampardos thread which i just posted except rampardos is faster and much stronger. armaldo can probably take a hit, but that doesnt matter with focus sash anyway.

Train your {armaldo} until it get much evs at speed, attack, and HP. {armaldo}'s base defense stat is good so you don't have to give it much defense evs.

I agree with putting the EVs in HP but why put any more in speed? It wont go much higher than 160. Maxing it out puts it to 190 and I've decided to BP it speed, works much better.

Well, you didnt say you were definately going to BP. on a rock polish set you NEED the extra speed ev's.

It would be very good in a Sandstorm team....

sandstorm ups spDef of rock types by 50%, which is a great help since most rock types have abysmal spDef (rhyperior, golem, aggron off the top of my head)
it also helps other rock pokes, like armaldo in this case, to survive (or least have a chance to) those pesky surfs, grass knot, energy ball and the like
