What roles are Jolteon, Ampharos, and Electivire better suited for?

Jolteon is regarded as one of, if not the best sub passers with options to sp sweep:

Substitiute
Baton Pass
Thunderbolt
HP ICE

Really nice with HP ICE :D

Electivire is a great phys sweeper, if you can predict a switch. Common combo is the Gyarados to Elevire switch...the think they are going to kill gyara with a T bolt, but end up just boosting E.vires speed.

Cross Chop
EQ
Thunderpunch
Ice Punch

I never have used Ampharos. Isn't it UU?

Ampharos is something of the anti-christ of Electric Pokemon; rubbish speed, but doesn't die in one hit.

A useful trick it so allow a known EQ carrier to attack it, and then Counter back the damage. It takes a bit of figuring out (what with the EVs and stuff) but you can fix it so that it survives most non-boosted EQ attacks without dying, and yet managing to blast the opponent back.

You could even combine this with a Choice Scarf, so that while they think they know your Amphy's trick, you can bring him back later on in the game with a suprise Focus Blast / TBolt. Goes out on a limb though, and it's not as if Ampharos is easy to bring in.

As for Electivire, it's pretty standard. Switch it in on an Electric Attack, and sweep the opponent. :P

I've seen quite a few Choice Specs Jolteon, so be careful of them. TBolt rather hurts, while you think you're free to set up. And yes, HP Ice is nasty. Typical Bolt Beam strategy, evil...:P

So for Jolteon...

@ Choice Specs/ Scarf
Timid
EVS: 252 Sp Attk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
Tbolt
*HP ICE
Subbstitute
-Baton Pass

* What personality does it need to get the correct IV's? Also, is there only one HP in the game?
-The effect of the item goes to the one being switched in?

No, no BP with a choice item. Does not work at all - you can't switch moves (so no point to BP). Specs is a totally special attacker.

IVs are not determined by nature. For which IVs you want - if it's shoddy, then there's a chart on Psypokes for which IVs to get. In-game, it's just luck to get a good HP Ice.

What item should I use to replace the choice items?

If I can't get HP Ice, then what move should I replace it with?

EDIT: How can I get BP through inheritance?

Jolteon @Petaya/Salac Berry
Timid
~Charge Beam
~Substitute
~Agility/Attract/Double Team/Wish
~Baton Pass

Hey, GSC all over again? maybe, but now growth works 70% of the time...
Why substitute with that HP? The speed to protect status.
The berry is your choice - if you aren't running agility, go with salac. If you are, Petaya is probably best.
Attract and Double Team allow for the sub to stay alive longer. Wish is for when it does break after passing...

Electivire @Life Orb
Quiet
~Thunderbolt
~Cross Chop
~Ice Punch
~Earthquake/Flamethrower/Fire Punch

Thunderbolt is stab, ice punch for mini-boltbeam, cross chop hits hard and does a good number to t-tar and blissey (ohkoing both with critical hits, 75% to Blissey without). The last slot is up to you - can't touch electrics/metagross? Earthquake them. Bronzong problems? go with flamethrower.

Ampharos @Focus Sash/Leftovers
~Thunderbolt
~HP Ice/Signal Beam
~Heal Bell/HP Grass
~Counter

Get almost ohkod by something and counter. Look at this as though I'm crazy, but there are reasons for everything. There is a saying that you don't use anything if its outclassed by something else. Well, raichu pulls off every other ampharos set better (sub, f-punch, t-bolt, hp ice/grass), but Raichu has the unfortunate problems of Hidden power types. Signal beam hits the grasses andpsychics in UU environments, and there are no dragons except lol-altaria. If you get a decent hp grass, you might want to use it for gastrodon/quagsire/whiscash/golem. Counter because it can and with those defenses you could possibly do 2 counters.

I think this should be an electric discussion topic...

Post more when I return home.

Electivire should get thunderpunch or fire punch, not thunderbolt and flamethrower.

Zapdos@life orb/leftovers

Thunderbolt
Thunder wave
Ancient Power
Roost/Baton pass

The physical sweeper E-Trive is seen more commonly then the Special sweeper E-Trive. E-Trive can be used as an Sp. Sweeper, a Mixed Sweeper and a Physical Sweeper, so it can be used as an Sp. Sweeper.

SPD BASE- 95

With Life Orb, Thunderbolt almost does as much as Thunderpunch, and even more to physical walls that switch in on E-Vire.

To Dusknoir:

31 IV's Lonely no EV's LO TBolt to Max HP 31 IV's no EV's Sp Def Impish Dusknoir: 116-137= 39.5% - 46.5%

Max Atk Lonely LO Tpunch to Max HP Max Def Impish Dusknoir: 100-118= 34% - 40%

Dusknoir's not the best example as it has equal Defense and Sp Defense, but a lot of people give it more defense. The extra Base Power T-Bolt has over T-Punch helps a lot. Even if Dusknoir had max Sp Def instead, TBolt will still do more.

Zapdos is easily the best Agility BP'er in the game, so include that in any set. Charge Beam is good over TBolt if you pass to a special sweeper.

Charge Beam/Agility/(Twave or HP Ice)/Baton Pass.

From what I'm seeing in your build Electrivire has less EVs to spend in its Attack and Speed...u need to max out Electrivire's Sp. Atk in order for it's Thunderbolt to work Almost as Good as a Thunder Punch...why is it so Important to get a Counter for physical walls when a Physical Sweeping Electrivire gets to attack at least twice B4 the walls even move? Don't get it? here's an example...a list of common Physical Walls are:

The 3 Regies, Metagross, Bronzong, Skarmory, Steelix, Scizor, Rhyperior, Swampert, Slowbro, Suicune, Tangrowth, Togekiss, Dusknoir, Donphan, Cresselia, Hippowdon and Forretress.

An Electrivire with maxed Speed is faster than any of them and a switch requires a turn.....this means that Electrivire gets to attack Twice B4 the Walls react....with Earthquake, Fire Punch, Thunder Punch and Ice Punch you counter almost all of the walls here...save Swampert and Cresselia...do you really need to get a Special move and reduce EVs in Attack and Speed so that you can put those EVs in Sp. Atk? The Walls would most likey faint in 3 Turns...and 2 of those turns are already done when the Opponent switched....they only get to attack Electrivire once B4 they faint...I think it's very worthwhile to just keep Electrivire as a Physical sweeper cos we don't have a lot of EVs to spare.
