{dragonite}@Yache Berry
Adamant|252Atk 252Spd 6Hp
-DDance
-Outrage
-Aqua Tail
-Earthquake

any comments/suggestions?

This is pretty much the standard. Some people will go with the band or sash, in place of the berry and no DD.

Yeah, and I think Persim Berry's a much better item if you're going to use Outrage.

It is, I was thinking of that and not the ice .5 berry.

Maybe a Life Orb, Yache berry or a Lum Berry

Jolly for more spd, Adamant for more atk power

OK, cheers. I think Persim is a better idea. I just gotta hope that whatever the opponent has that uses ice beam, i can outspeed it.

Giving the Dragonite a Jolly nature would help with the speed problem.

Flamethrower is usually used for skarms. Either that or fire punch. Bronzong also resists you otherwise.

Focus Punch > Aqua Tail allows you to hit t-tar.

That is only if you can predict a DD from t-tar. You can't use it on the switch since nobody is going to switch a t-tar to a dragonite who might as well use EQ on the switch and sent it back to hell... So unless you have really good predicting skills, any other move is better. (Fire punch, Aqua tail, Thunderpunch (for bulky gyarados), brick break etc.)

Dragonite only has 80 base Spd. There's a good chance that your strategy isn't going to work - bulky waters who are slower might survive Outrage, and special sweepers that are faster will likely outspeed you unless you have Scarf.

Yeah, but there is no way a Dragonite would ever survive or outspeed an Ice Punch from Weavile, whether you have scarf, yasche berry, or any of that. In fact, you're only hope is Focus Sash/Band.

just to take care of all of your wallas that you say will get into dragonite's way....

Dragonite@Perism berry
Adamant
200 Attack 56 Special attack 252 Speed
Dragon Dance
Outrage
Flamethrower/ Fire blast
HP grass

After one Dragon Dance your attack will be about 525+ and your speed will be 342+...if you are worried about bein ousped then go for the hasty/jolly nature and change it's moveset then

flamethrower/fire blast for skarmory, forretress, levitating brozong
When someone sends in these pokemon they will most likely start settin up a spikes/stealth rock....

HP grass is for the bulky waters...swampert, vaporeon, quagsire

The ttar problem is no problem at all...no one would really switch a Ttar in on a Outraging pokemon anyways....that's a 2HKO on them

If you change the nature from adamant to jolly and give it a focus sash, your garanteed one DD (assuming there's no sandstorm or Hail) and enough speed to outspeed the 125 Base pokes. Of course priority moves rape this idea, as with all sash sets so its all up to preference.

with sandstorm being a common scene in competitive play, focus sash would be lower on the item possibilities for dragonite. really, yache berry is a godsend for dragon types (kingdra and palkia excluded), especially those who carry dragon dance (salamence, dragonite) or other setup moves - garchomp and swords dance are best buddies

persim berry is also up there on the list, since it can have the opportunity to outrage again and end the battle quickly. however, you have to make sure dragonite isn't out against an ice punch/beam/fang user with respectable [special] attack for dragonite to stay alive. a lot people forget this, but also make sure it isn't out against a stone edge user -- having a high critical hit ratio, stone edge may spell dragonite's demise in the most crucial situations.

Here try this
Adamant 252att/252spd/6hp/lum berry
Dragon Dance
Outrage
Fire punch/thunderpunch
Substitiute

The reason you have a lum berry is that Dragonite can counter those
WOWers and thunderwavers by using the lum berry and then using substitute to counter them again causing them to switch or going for the WOW or thunderwave again. The other reason is to heal yourself from confusion. Then while
they attack you use DD and if they break it go for the outrage. If they don't break keep DD, until your unbeatenable. Hope this helped good luck.

Hey! That's my old build. It has had a lot of success, but I think the competition is better now.

I was using that back when Infernape had two garchomps for some reason.

Way back with classick too. It was like the first one I ev trained for this gen, I've been struggling with how to improve it properly. I worry too much about little things that'd happen during the change because it takes so long to hatch dratini eggs.
