So, I'm running a Ho-Oh like this.
Ho-Oh@Life Orb
Adamant, Pressure
252A, 252S, 6D
Brave Bird
Sacred Fire
Punishment
Roost/Recover

I don't know whether to pick Roost or Recover. Temporarily losing flying type and keeping it both have advantages. With Roost , Ho-Oh loses weaknesses to electric,(Which is helpful as thunder is a pretty common attack in the (uber metagame) gains an ice resistance, and it's 4x rock weakness becomes 2x temporarily. However, it becomes vulnerable to Ground attacks, loses it's fighting resistance, it's grass resistance drops to 2x, and a few more.(I know I probably left out a few benefits and downsides) So, which would be better?

Changing type has the advantages that an opponent trying to take advantage of Ho-oh's weaknesses must try to predict whether you will use Roost. If used properly, Roost can be a better move than Recover.

Well, things to keep in mind is that if you go first then you go from being a flying/fire to just fire. Which means:

4X weak to nothing
2X weak to rock, ground
Resist ice

Probably missed a few up there. Losing flying type means you no longer are safe from EQ...but idk how common ground is in uber. Would assume it's virtually nonexistant. I think the biggest advantage would be that you could possibly survive stone edge and ice beam is resisted instead of neutral. Only thing is i don't play ubers so idk how common those are (assume ice is at least SOMEWHAT prevelent because of several dragons). Last issue im seeing is the actual speed. I'm sure he would be ultra quick in OU, but how fast in ubers. Thinking slow.

Just a quick run down.

Well, Groudon is really the only EQ user besides other Ho-Oh, and no one in their right mind switches Groudon in on a Sacred Fire while activating sunlight and having a 50% chance of being burned. Also, Sion9 has a valid point, so I think I'll go with Roost.

Mod Edit: Alright, then I'll go ahead and lock the thread if you've made your decision. If you need this unlocked for further discussion, PM me. -R_R
