And if this is really done on PO, why can't we use 31 IVs across the board? Since we all have access to them, it's fine, right?

I'm just going to say no because I want to keep this as close to WiFi as possible.

But I'll leave it up to the masses. Mark what you feel and I will keep a running tally and before sign ups close I will state who won.

Also EP won't get by my supreme Fire team. It shall pwn.

If on PO and not doing 31 IVs across the board, it seems kind of difficult/awkward to select IVs. Unless you give us a set of 6 IV numbers that we then distribute among the stats of each Pokemon (or perhaps 36 IV numbers that we then distribute among all 36 stats), humans cannot really pick randomly or be chancy about setting IVs. (Sorry if that was not clear.)

I agree with Cherrygrove, it would be difficult to just pick random numbers fairly, and even if there was a determined system for choosing them, then people could still cheat and make them all 31's. I'd much rather do it over wifi, but I understand that not everyone is able to, or doesn't have a trained team ready.

Not trying to be mean, but if you can't train a team of five with one type in common, you may have some problems. Just think, I had a nice fire-type team ready to go. Now I have to train 5 Dragons with no help. And in little time. It's more difficult than you think, since they're all low leveled.

We'll probably end up playing on PO, so you won't need to train.

To be honest, regardless of being Wi-fi or PO, setting rules in regard to "no all 31IVs" will end badly. There no sure way to check each player's pokemon and no solid ground for what is fair/unfair. Hell, I've personally bred pokes with 31's across the board. Should I be unable to use them against an opponent who doesn't breed?

If done on PO, just set and assume everything is 31. It's the most balanced way to go about it.
If done on Wi-fi, Breed the best you can and still assume to opponent has all 31's.

Go on the "Magnetmite stock exchange" and max out Join avenue. Makes EVing and leveling easy.

Seeing from everyone's thoughts. If done on PO everyone can max out IVs to their hearts content. Just be careful to make sure you don't mess up Hidden Powers ha ha.

PO is not all bad and honestly its what I'm leaning towards, it allows everyone to compete on the most fair level. Also I'm adding everyone on.

And I would like to thank everyone that has signed up thus far, it is really nice to see this many people signing up for this.

Couple of questions:

1. Will we have to have our team fixed prior to the start of the tournament, or will be able to change up our teams right up until the start f each battle?
2. If we don't get 2^n participants (i.e. 16 since we already have more than 8) will there be a round robin or byes or something else?

You don't really need to sign up for anything, just download the program.
Did you go here http://www.pokemon-online.eu/ ?
I downloaded and compiled the source files so there is no way you need to pay for anything...

The answer to number one is no. You may change up your team as often as necessary, as long as it fits the required terms of the five Pokemon of your six be your type.
The answer to number two is more than likely a round robin for the finals, and byes have historically been in these. So in short yes. Just how it will happen only time will tell on how it goes.

I would like to donate a prize to the tourney since I have some disposable income.

The winner will receive 10,000.00 Psybucks.
2nd place will receive 3,000.00 Psybucks.

I'll give out Psybucks accordingly as to what I can muster. Also I'm cutting signups short. Wednesday is going to be the cut off date. Mostly because starting Friday night I'm going to be wrecking my liver beyond all repair. So get y'alls buts in gear and get signed up and your friends signed up.

Gasp double post. D: Seriously signups are closed.

Everything should be done on PO as that is what won in the poll. You are also highly encouraged to save the matches done there so you can send it to me in case you think something went wrong. I used a random number generator to create the match ups, and the bracket (which was done in MS paint because I'm lazy) which I will be putting in the post was the most fair way I could come up with to do it.

Now then go go go matches are due next Sunday!

Just to make sure, but I am allowed to use Sand Veil right? Cause PO is telling me that my team is Uber.

Post subject:  Re: The Return of the Super Special Awesome Monotype Tourney

All such abilities were voted out of OU on Smogon (and subsequently PO, I suppose) For this tourney you are allowed to use such abilities. Just turn off all the clauses and stuff when you battle? Of course you will have to manually obey all other clauses.
