Post subject:  Rules for Pokemon Elimination Challenges

What with the recent spate of spam contests going on in the PECs, it's time to knock some discipline into how the PECs are going to be conducted.

1. Explain the reason behind both your immunity vote and your boot vote. Even if you are called Articuno_Lover, have an Articuno avatar and several Articunos in your signature, make it clear why you are making this choice. This will help to reduce the spammish nature of most posts, which are like X / X , full stop.

2. Limit your participation to one post per day per PEC. The last thing we need is to have a PEC increase by three pages in one hour. Imagine some poor kid who votes and happily goes to bed, and then waking up to find that the final round is already up.

3. Indicate clearly if your post is not a vote. We don't want one member to say "this can be locked", and a final round started, only for another member to claim that the votes were calculated incorrectly, and the final round should be postponed.

4. Make comments about the votes of other members very carefully. If you are going to criticize their choices, it is suggested that you do not post at all. I don't care how strongly you feel towards certain Pokemon, if you don't like it, keep it to yourself.

5. Learn your mathematics. Stop posting once a round is over, and only continue posting after the next round is up. Make sure you count the number of votes before posting.

6. Only two ECs can be running at once. If another EC is made while two are already running, it will be locked until one ends.

7. All ECs are first to 5 Boot/Immunity votes, unless you get special permission from a Mod to run it otherwise.
Exception: Does not apply to final and semifinal rounds.

8. All vote counts are reset at the start of every round. They are not cumulative.

9. In the case of a tie between two pokemon to be booted/given immunity at the end of a round, the pokemon with a lower percentage of votes will lose. For example:
{venusaur} 0/5
{charizard} 4/2
{blastoise} 4/1
{meganium} 1/3
{typhlosion} 4/0
{feraligatr} 2/4

In this case, the round is over, because Venusaur has reached 5 votes of one kind. Venusaur gets booted, and Typhlosion, because it tied for the most immunity votes, but has the fewest boot votes among those tying, gets Immunity. If Typlosion had also gotten 1 boot vote, Blastoise and Typhlosion would both recieve immunity.

10. The same Pokemon cannot win immunity every round; if {feraligatr} wins immunity in round 5 he cannot win immunity in round 6; however, he can win immunity again in round 7. This is to prevent the same Pokemon from winning immunity every time.

Thanks from me too. I saw a ton of , oh, lets say,
Some people wrote:

{espeon} / {jolteon} <Note this isnt a real vote, I made it up

To me that was weird. Some people were saying stuff like "jolteon phails kthxbai." Not really giving a reason... Thanks again.

I want to get a pec started but I don't understand rule #7. Could you clarify it a little bit better for me. Please?

Rule 7, from what I know, basically means a round is over when any Pokemon receives FIVE (5) up OR down votes. As shown in the example above:

PEC Rules wrote:
{venusaur} 0/5
{charizard} 4/2
{blastoise} 4/1
{meganium} 1/3
{typhlosion} 4/0
{feraligatr} 2/4

The round is over, because Venusaur has reached 5 votes of one kind.

Hmm...this gives me an idea. This forum's a little quiet lately, so I might start my own one...soon? *wink wink*

Thinking about making a Starter Elimination Challenge. Would anyone know if one has already happened.

One has happened here. But it's been nearly a year since it finished so you're probably good.

I think that it'd be fine if you did, seeing as no one else has requested to hold one for awhile now.
