Post subject: | OH! I finally know a missing guide |
We are actually missing a plot walk-thru I will write these 1 part at a time... I will definitely skip some parts... so note me about that or give a breif description of what happens Beginning (type 1 of introduction) After being asked by the questions that determine the leader Pokemon, you will see a short cutscene in the forest sleeping. Your partner Pokemon will wake you up. Then, you will have a short conversation between you and your partner Pokemon about your memory loss of human life. Soon, a Butterfree flew to your area and asked for rescue. A mission to rescue her Caterpie baby that fell in Tiny Woods after a fissure. Your and your partner ventured into Tiny Woods for the basic of Pokemon Mystery Dungeons. Tiny Woods Mission: Rescue Caterpie at F3[/b] This should be an easy mission. I recommend players to set their attacks and train few levels here- keep on tackling, scratching, pounding, etc. and have your partner's moves set and let them do the fighting sometimes. Once you enter the third floor, you will successfully rescue Caterpie. Thunderwave Cave Mission: Rescue Magnemite at F5 Immediately after rescuing Caterpie, the player will have a rest, and collect their first rescue mission mail. A rescue of Magnemite who are stuck in Thunderwave cave after an electromagnetic pulse. This would be slightly harder. Continue your tackling, scratching, pounding... And if you did trian some in Tiny Woods, you shouldbe able to use Razor Leaf, Ember, absorb, Water gun, bubble... and other more elemental attacks, unless you are a normal type. GROWLS, LEERS, and other stats modifying moves are suggested. Keep an eye out on Nidoran that *might* poison you. Mount Steel Mission: Rescue Diglett at F9 :!: Boss: Skarmony at F9 Few missions after saving Magnemite. A Dugtrio would appear in your headquarter asking for help. It will request you to go to Skarmony to save his son, Diglett. Bring Max elixir and oran berry if you need to. Prepare yourself for more diverse type of Pokemon in dungeon, such as fighting, bug, steel, rock, flying, and normal. Use the sane techniques as the previous dungeon. You could svae your stats modifying attacks for Skarmony if you start from F1-4 with offensive attacks. Then from F5-8, combine defensive attacks, or the stats modifiers. Skarmony will be challenging if you are normal, grass, and water type. If you, the leader Pokemon, is fire type, EMBER away and give gravelerocks to your partner. If the leader is grass type, and have the move Razor Leaf, fire away. If you are normal type, stats change Skarmony with your moves and have your partner do the offense. If you are water type, either try defensive attack> offensive> defensive> offensive in this order, let your partner do the attacks, or both equip gravelerocks. Recruit Pokemon and give them gravelerocks if you like. |

4th Generation Pokemon Pokemon Mystery Dungeon features all 386 Pokemon, which includes all Pokemon up to and including those in RSE. It is also possible for one to recruit all 386 of them. However, several fourth generation Pokemon (ie Pokemon from Pearl/Diamond) do make cameo appearances in the game, and one of which can be encountered directly. This short guide will cover the references made in the game to these fourth generation Pokemon. 4th Gen Pokemon Reward Statues Bonsly Does not appear in the game directly, but you can obtain a statue of it by completing all 17 type-based mazes in the Makuhita Dojo. Weavile Like Bonsly, Weavile is not mentioned in the game at all, but you can obtain a statue of it to be placed outside your Rescue Base. To obtain the statue, you have to complete a mission rated S or * with the statue as the reward. Mime Jr. Also like Bonsly, Mime Jr. is not mentioned in the game, but a statue of it can be obtained. To obtain the statue, you have to complete a mission rated S or * with the statue as the reward. The Legendary Lucario Lucario Several references to Lucario are made in the game. He is spoken of as the greatest and most outstanding Rescue Team Leader of all, such that even Alakazam speaks of him in awe. Unfortunately, you have no chance to meet this Legendary Rescue Leader. However, you can obtain a statue of it if your rescuing exploits merit 15000 Rescue Points. Munchlax? Munchlax Munchlax is the only fourth generation Pokemon to actually appear in the game as a character, and encountering it is also the most elusive event out of the events featuring fourth generation Pokemon. To encounter it, you must first hold an Apple in your Toolbox. Whenever you fulfill this requirement, there is a chance than Munchlax will appear in the Town Square. It will appear from the right of the area, walking past Wigglytuff's shop and Persian's bank, and all the way past the Kecleon shops before disappearing from Town Square. You can talk to it, and after a short conversation you will find out that it's hungry. It will ask for some food, and you should simply give it an Apply by selecting it from your Toolbox. Munchlax will munch on it happily. Thereafter, Munchlax will thank you, and, in return, give you a Munchbelt before continuing on its way, out of Town Square. The Munchbelt is an item which raises Attack and Special Attack, but causes your Belly to lower more quickly. There are rumours that you can recruit Munchlax, and it seems that it might be possible to do so with the aid of cheating devices. However, it is generally accepted that Munchlax is not recruitable. |

I started one, but it's grossly incomplete, and I haven't had the time to complete it, and instead focused on adding simpler guides. I'll look into completing it though. Thanks for your suggestion =p |

There is a thread on IGN that someone made...It has all the characters that you can recruit in the game...It also lists every dungeon, every ratio for every item in the dungeon, every ratio for each pokemon in that dungeon, and everything else you can think of..I think that it is here....I hop that this helps... |

Thank you, but we prefer to come up with our own guides rather than just linking to other guides or using them directly. Besides, text guides are boring. We have screenshots to complement our guides =p |

IQ Guide IQ is a new mechanic introduced in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. The higher the IQ of your Pokemon, the "smarter" it gets. As Pokemon gain in IQ, they also learn special skills known as IQ Skills in the process. These IQ Skills confer upon a Pokemon certain advantages which help it function better in dungeons. For a more in depth look at IQ Skills, please visit the site's IQ Skills Guide. Measuring IQ In the game, IQ is measured by stars. To view a Pokemon's IQ, simply go to its Summary page, and count the number of stars of IQ it has. However, IQ is in actual fact measured by a hidden value - IQ Points. IQ Stars merely correspond to certain amounts of IQ Points, and are therefore a less precise measurement of IQ. This chart co-relates IQ Points to the number of stars they represent: 1 Star: 0 Points 2 Stars: 10-49 Points 3 Stars: 50-99 Points 4 Stars: 100 - 149 Points 5 Stars: 150 - 199 Points 6 Stars: 200 - 299 Points 7 Stars: 300 - 399 Points 8 Stars: 400 - 499 Points 9 Stars: 500 - 599 Points 10 Stars: 600 - 699 Points 11 Stars: 700 - 989 Points Max Stars: 990 Points Using Gummies Gummies are the only way to increase the IQ of Pokemon. You can feed Gummies to your Pokemon by visiting them at their Friend Areas. Your team leader can also consume Gummies directly when in dungeons, or throw the Gummies at other Pokemon, who will then consume the thrown Gummi if it is holding an item already. Otherwise, it will merely catch the thrown item. Consuming a Gummi in a dungeon Visiting a Pokemon at its Friend Area There are many types of Gummies, each representing a type. Different types of Gummies will increase your Pokemon's IQ by different amounts, depending on how well the Gummi "matches" your Pokemon's type(s). Gummi matches the Pokemon's Type: + 7 IQ Points Gummi is strong against the Pokemon's Type: + 4 IQ Points Gummi is neutral to the Pokemon's Type: + 3 IQ Points Gummi is weak against the Pokemon's Type: + 2 IQ Points Gummi is ineffective against Pokemon Type: + 1 IQ Point For single-type Pokemon, calculating how much a Gummi increases its IQ is rather straightforward. However, things get a little complicated when you have dual-type Pokemon. For such Pokemon, you have to take into account how the two types match up with the Gummi, then sum up the IQ Point increase. For instance, feeding a Blue Gummi to a Swampert would give it a +7 Water-type bonus, plus a +3 bonus (since Ground is neutral to Water). This means Swampert would gain a grand total of 10 IQ Points. As such, it can be seen that dual-type Pokemon have an advantage compared to single type Pokemon when it comes to gaining IQ Points. Gummies also increase the stats of Pokemon, but only when fed to Pokemon at their Friend Areas. A randomly chosen stat will increase by 1 when a Gummi is fed to a Pokemon. However, when the Gummi is a huge favourite of a dual-type Pokemon, such that the Gummi matches one of the types and is strong against the Pokemon's other type, the stats will grow explosively, and each of its stats will increase by 1. Psyduck experiences a stat gain after being fed a Blue Gummi Marshtomp experiences an explosive stat gain after being fed a Blue Gummi, which matches its Water type and is strong against its other type, Ground. Other Uses of IQ Aside from IQ Skills, IQ is also important for other aspects of the game. This section will highlight these aspects. Pokemon Evolution For certain Pokemon, a high IQ is a criterion for evolution. For more information on which Pokemon require high HQ to evolve, please visit the site's Evolution Guide. Learning Moves Certain Pokemon can only learn certain moves when they reach a sufficiently high level of IQ. Here is a list of the Pokemon, and the details on how they can learn the special moves. Venusaur Move: Frenzy Plant Minimum IQ required: 333 IQ Points Minimum Level of Pokemon: 99 Charizard Move: Blast Burn Minimum IQ required: 333 IQ Points Minimum Level of Pokemon: 99 Blastoise Move: Hydro Cannon Minimum IQ required: 333 IQ Points Minimum Level of Pokemon: 99 Pichu Move: Volt Tackle Minimum IQ required: 333 IQ Points Minimum Level of Pokemon: 50 Power of Return & Frustration Generally, the higher the IQ of a Pokemon, the more powerful Return is when used by the Pokemon. The reverse is true for Frustration, i.e. the lower the IQ of the Pokemon, the more powerful is the move. At 0 IQ, Return does a fixed damage of 5, whereas Frustration deals a fixed damage of 45. As IQ increases, Return deals more damage while Frustration deals less damage. |

Do you have anything that tells the recruitment chances for any random ppkemon? I want to find out how long its going to take to recruit my faves. And if you dont have one for all 386, could you make one for the legendaries, sinde those are the ones most people will want to recruit. And thanks for the guides youve made. I know a few, but I don't have a complete list compiled. Maybe I can include the recruitment percentages for the Legendaries into the Legendaries Guide, for now. Thanks for the suggestion. EDIT: Base recruitment percentages for the Legendaries have been added to the Legendaries guide. |

Version Exclusive Pokemon Similar to other Pokemon games, Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue each have their own version exclusive Pokemon. There are a total of 12 version exclusive Pokemon: Available in Red Rescue Team only: Plusle, Roselia, Porygon, Feebas, Milotic, Mantine Available in Blue Rescue Team only: Minun, Aipom, Porygon2, Magikarp, Gyarados, Lapras However, since trading is not possible in Mystery Dungeon, how can one obtain Pokemon which are not available in one's version? Fret not, there is a way to overcome this. Notice that each Rescue Mission has a specific Pokemon as its client. Sometimes, these clients are version exclusive Pokemon. Upon completion of these missions, the version exclusive Pokemon will then appear in the wild in your game, if they weren't already available before. These missions can be obtained via Wonder Mail. For instance, to get Plusle in Blue Rescue Team, you will have to get the Wonder Mail code to a mission which has Plusle as a client from someone who plays Red Rescue Team. Input the Wonder Mail into the start-up menu's Wonder Mail page, and the mission will be added to your Job List. Upon completion of the mission, Plusle can now be found in the wild in your game. Locations of the Pokemon Listed here are the locations of the version exclusive Pokemon. Red Rescue Team Exclusives Plusle • ThunderWave Cave 4F-5F • Lighting Field 7F-19F • Joyous Tower 5F-8F Roselia • Uproar Forest 4F-7F Mantine • Grand Sea 30F Porygon • Buried Relic 5F-10F Feebas • Waterfall Pond 16F-19 Milotic • Evolve Feebas Blue Rescue Team Exclusives Minun • ThunderWave Cave 4F-5F • Lighting Field 7F-19F • Joyous Tower 5F-8F Aipom • Uproar Forest 1F-6F Lapras • Far-Off Sea 45F-50F Porygon2 • Wish Cave 79F-84F • Buried Relic 10F-14F, 16F-18F • Joyus Tower 80F-84F Magikarp • Waterfall Pond 7F-11F Gyarados • Evolve Magikarp Wonder Mail Codes The screenshots below show Rescue Missions involving version exclusive Pokemon as their clients. By using the corresponding Wonder Mail codes at the bottom of each screenshot, you will be able to make these Pokemon available in your game. Enjoy! ~Red Rescue Team Exclusives Plusle Roselia Mantine Porygon Feebas Milotic ~Blue Rescue Team Exclusives Minun Aipom Lapras Porygon2 Magikarp Gyarados -Nil- |

Tactics In addition to IQ Skills, you can also make use of Tactics to control how your partner Pokemon behave in dungeons. Unlike IQ Skills, however, the Tactics which are usuable by your partner Pokemon is dependent not on the partner Pokemon, but on the level of the leader. Another difference would be that you can utilise multiple IQ Skills simultaneously, whereas for Tactics, only one can be activated at any point in time. To view your list of usable tactics, bring up the menu by pressing B in a dungeon. Go to "Team", and select a partner Pokemon. Select "Tactics" to view the list of usable Tactics. The Tactic with a star beside it is the Tactic currently in use. Accessing the Tactics Menu The Tactics List Factors Affecting Tactics Certain Status Conditions can prevent Pokemon from changing their Tactics. These Status Conditions are, namely, Sleep, Napping, Nightmare, Petrified, Paused, Infatuated, Terrified and Blinker. For more information on these Status Conditions, please refer to the Status Conditions Guide. Usable Tactics List There are a total of nine usable Tactics. The default Tactic is usually Let's Go Together. Listed here are also the levels required for a Pokemon to be able to use each Tactic. Let's go together Required Level: 1 Description: The Pokemon will try to stay with the leader. Go after foes Required Level: 1 Description: The Pokemon will head straight toward any foe it spots. Avoid the first hit Required Level: 1 Description: The Pokemon will try to avoid being attacked first. If a foe comes close, the Pokemon will attack. Get away Required Level: 10 Description: The Pokemon will flee from others whether they are friendly or not. In its rush to flee, the Pokemon will not be able to use any items. Wait there Required Level: 15 Description: The Pokemon will stop moving. Keep your distance Required Level: 20 Description: The Pokemon will try to keep its distance from foes while moving. Go the other way Required Level: 25 Description: The Pokemon will go off on its own, heedless of the leader. Avoid trouble Required Level: 35 Description: The Pokemon will try to avoid foes if its HP is low. Be patient Required Level: 40 Description: The Pokemon will stop moving if its HP is low. Hidden Tactics In addition to the above nine tactics which you can use, there are also two hidden Tactics which are always in place. All for one Required Level: Nil Description: The Pokemon will try to avoid being alone. It will try to stay with the team (Similar to Let's go together) Group Safety Required Level: Nil Description: The Pokemon will try to avoid being alone. It will try to stay with friends of the same species. |

How do the Hidden Tactics work? Since they both seem to be like Let's Go Together, and if they are always in place, then would changing the tactic to something else disable them temporarily, or not? What about if they team gets separated suddenly, like warping, fighting off foes, or anything else that doesnt involve changing the tactic? I've noticed that if my team gets separated, they wander around the floor aimlessly, and dont stay together at all - what effect are the hidden tactics having on this? |

Well basically how it works is this: The Pokemon will try to stay together with you if they see you. If they're warped, they won't be able to see you and thus will go off in a random direction until they run into an enemy (therefore they will fight), or find you (in which case they will run over to you). You will still be able to see their little yellow dot on the map roaming around (with or without X-Ray Specs), and as such, you can go hunt them down to get them to follow you, or make a break for the staircase so that you'll all be together upon entering the next level. Additionally, if you (or your partners) are warped, then the two (or three) partner Pokemon will try to run together (like a train) if they don't find you, the leader. (After the game has ended you can swap for one of them to be leader, regardless of where they are, provided you didn't just find them on this trip to the dungeon.) One will stay in front and the other one (or two) will follow. Once they see you they'll try to crowd around you or get in a line again. I'm not sure what the Group Safety means, but I'm sure someone else could help you out there. |

Much like Blaziken, i don't understand the hidden tactics. How do you know of them? in what way are they hidden? Are they just part of pokemon programming, given a name as a tactic? I don't want to look stupid, but I really don't get it. |

SorcererDNA is mostly correct. However, to be honest, I'm not sure what Group Safety means. The hidden tactics are in place all the time, and cannot be deactivated. In what way are they hidden... well, you don't see them in the Tactics list, do you? As for how we know of them, it was found as part of the programming of the game when TK "dismantled" the game data. |

I just looked at the list of dungeons and noticed how the "activation" row was blank. Are you still working on coding that? I'd be happy to help in any way possible. ^_^; |

I noticed an error. It's really small, but it's still an error. You spelt guide wrong in the update list for Aug 05 - Tactics Guide. It says Aug 05 - Tactics Tuide. |

Yeah, that's a typo. Fixed it now. As for the Activation column... well, I guess that's just something I wanted to do but yet never got round to it. I think there are some small edits to several of the online guides I need to make too, but yet they are still not done. Since Jigglypuff still does the site updating for me (I haven't had time to acquaint myself with the administrative system), that makes things a little trickier as well. I'll see what I can do once my current course in the Army ends, and I get a little more free time (hopefully, but not for sure). |

eeveeisforever wrote: could you make a guide on where to find stuff like the sun ribbon? You mean the locations of Evolution items? They're all listed in the Evolution GUide here: http://www.psypokes.com/dungeon/evolution.php I think there are one or two errors in the locations though. If anyone spots any, feel free to point them out here. |
