Also, if you want to modify the EVs, click on the button that says "Expert". It'll allow you to play around with natures, abilities, EVs, shiney, etc.

Just an idea with a basic strategy. Again, not entirely sure on the creative part, but I couldn't find much for Vileplume anyway.

Unlike Dragon types and some other Pokemon, Vileplume has never been used for physical sweeping, so I guess the set is good enough for testing.

Simple Strategy, Block the opponent, Toxic them, Double Team up. If faced with a Steel Type (or a pokemon with Immunity), Use EQ, and just try to survive them. Not terribly creative, but the standard set for Steelix is physical sweeping.

I think I've tested something like that before, but all I found in the search was a really old set from May that was similar. (That I didn't test :P )

Either way, I don't really see that working well. The odds are just too slim that anyone wouldn't just switch anyway before you Block them. You'd still be very vulnerable to hits that can just build up. (Like the opponent repeatingly using Surf or Earthquake or something.) After all, it'd take a while to get Double Team up, not to mention that that's when you're getting hit. Earthquake wouldn't work too well either until you're fully protected by Double Team. So even if you get one pokemon down, your opponent will have seen your whole moveset and switch to a Flying or better Pokemon. In general, you'd need a LOT of things to go just right or you're gone.

So I guess I'll test it anyway. :P

Definitely not creative enough for Slaking. I don't know about Kangaskhan or Granbull, but the overall concept is still physical sweeping, so it might not be creative enough. I'll wait for a second opinion on this, so don't worry yet :P

Anyway I have a set. Not sure about its creativity though.

Sand Tomb - Toxic - Earthquake - *Filler*
EVs: 252 Def 129 HP 129 Atk

Most of the time Forretress is used as a Spiker, with Rapid Spin and some other physical moves. This one makes use of its Defense; trap with Sand Tomb before using Toxic on the enemy. Earthquake gives you something to do while the opponent's health is whittled down with Toxic. In addition, Earthquake eliminates Fire types (which are powerful against Forretress), as well as Poison and Steel types, which are resistant to Toxic.

For the last move, however, I'm not sure whether to put Rest (obvious reasons), Light Screen (extra protection against Fire moves, and any Special type moves for that matter), Double Team (better survivability, but perhaps frowned upon), or another physical attack such as HP Bug/Steel.

I agree on the Sub-Punchers; just too common of an idea for those Pokemon.

On Forretress, I'd think of putting 252 EVs into Sp. Def instead of Light Screen. A Careful Nature could work better, too. The last move could be HP Bug. Just the problems would be its Speed, other than that. I'll test.

Steelix just didn't work out like I said. I thought that it could have a chance anyway, but nope. It was just too hard to get going.

Forretress on the other hand, did pretty well. On most occasions though, when Sand Tomb stopped, you had to anticipate the switch. The Speed didn't turn out to be a bad problem. I used the Nature and EVs as I stated (Careful, 252 Sp. Def, 129 HP, 129 Atk) and the only other change I had was an Earthquake/Protect for the move Earthquake.

Alright, darn it, every other pokemon on my Midnight ID has a CMS HoFer except Steelix, so I'm giving it another try. How about this Toxic-blocker? OU strategy, but good for at least 1 pokemon gone. Block-Toxic-alternate between Endure and Protect. Or, if that's not creative enough, how about:

{steelix} @ Quick Claw, Sturdy
Careful Nature (+Sp. Def, -Sp. Att)/252 Sp. Defense/252 Attack/6 HP
Earthquake
Iron Tail
Rest
Sleep Talk

Hit with the proper STABed attack until HP is low (about 1/3? I'm not sure.), and then Rest, Sleep Talk for 2 turns, and repeat. The standard is Physical Sweeping, but this is a very different strategy from that.

Saanaito, neither of those sets are terribly creative enough. Those types of strategies are just too commonly used for those Pokemon.

On Steelix, the Endure-Protect combo doesn't work. Sorry. :P On the second, you'd have to watch out for the accuracy on Iron Tail and the chances with Sleep Talk and getting the right move is slim enough. The chances that Quick Claw would kick in when you need it also doesn't usually go well. Also, if it doesn't work and you get a bad hit on you, you're not going to come back from it. I could test it, although I'd rather have a second opinion.

I'm not too sure about the Steelixes, though, but I suppose there's no harm testing out the second set.

As for the Gardevoir, it does look interesting. It seems like one or two physical moves is going to nail it though. You probably have to predict really well in order to use this set.I'll wait for a second opinion about it.

*Note: Forretress added to HoF. When I have the time, I'll add the Pokemon names to the Hall of Fame, beside the icons that are being used now. This is to facilitate the use of the Search function :wink:

Alright, I'll test both then. By the way, Gardevoir's EVs are a little over the max, so I'll change them to 129's where necessary. I don't think it'll get to start off too well, but I'll see what I can do with it.

I had a lame idea for Lapras, which doesn't look too creative on second looks =/

Yeah, in all, it's not really much of a new idea. I'd think of adding Sing for Iron Tail, Return for Body Slam, and using HP Ghost, but that wouldn't change my view on it much anyway.

No, that's not too creative either. There's a similar set in the HoF that I actually use most of the time on my team. Substitute won't make much of a difference, even if the defenses are raised.

Even though you have a Calm Nature and EVs would be put in that stat, you will still be taken down very easily by a special sweeper, especially one with Surf. That's just an obvious downfall to Golem itself, so that doesn't matter too much there. On the other hand, once you get Toxic down, the opponent will more than likely switch, if not already, to a sweeper. If you don't get placed against one, if you attempt to use Dig, the opponent will switch to a Flying type. Speed is also a major problem here. If it had some Speed to get around a Flying type or Special Sweeper, that'd be excellent. Be that as it may, it just has too many downs to it. Sorry.

Haven't gotten around to do any testing yet, either. :?

Ludicolo: That is a very commonly used strategy for it. Changing a move or two and keeping the same strategy makes very little difference. Even still, that's still a common moveset variation for a common Ludicolo. By the way, the limit is two per post, it's okay to keep posting more after someone's commented on it.

Flareon: Once you're down to 1 HP, are you really going to want to use Wish when an opponent will attack you? Unless you're goal is to pass it after it faints, then I see no sense in weakening Flail. Even with Salac, I don't see it working too well. It'd probably just get one fairly nice hit in and go. I don't really see it worth a test, but maybe a second opinion could work it out.

The strategy doesn't really work out for the Flareon, like you mentioned. Wish is totally unnecessary. Once you're down to a HP and start using Flail, the opponent might just switch to something with good Defense, or a Steel or Rock type. It's unlikely that you'll cause much damage with Flail. Endure-Reversors work well because of their good Attack and Speed (further boosted by Salac). Flareon doesn't excel in either aspect =/

Sorry if this was posted :oops: . Anyway, you get the strategy. If not here it is- use attract first then toxic if you have. Keep using double team and if you need to rest if you have. Headbutt is a flinching move and you should have no problem. Basically, it is for annoying and stalling. 129 EV is def because your weakness is fighting which uses attack.

Note: does not work on pokemon with oblivious or same gender so you might want to get two...
