I can't test the Rapidash on NB, because it can't learn Baton Pass on NB. :P

Also, I noticed that you had me down for testing my Hypno, also, but I mentioned sometime earlier that it didn't work too well:

I edited mainly all around it... changed to Reflect, EV's, Nature, Item, moves, etc but couldn't really find much else that worked too well. It seemed to well at first like I said, but it just went way down hill... nope.

Hmmm, no Baton Pass on NB? Two choices, one: the moveset is changed, two: you have to manually train a similar Rapidash, and both aren't feasible

Let's put that aside until we think of something.

As for the Hypno, I forgot to remove it from the Test List :P

The Rapidash doesnt work and has wrong EV's imo. For a passing set, some HP and Defenses might be nice. But since Rapidash' defensive stats aren't that good, I don't think it will last very long. The SunnyBeam thing is standard on Rapidash, so that will work.

First try at making a creative moveset for one of my favorite pokemon. It doesn't seem terribly creative to me, but it's a lot different from the standard moveset.

{dragonite} @ Leftovers
Ability: Inner Focus
Nature: Quiet (+Sp Att, - Spd)
EVs: 252 Sp Atk, 252 HP, 6 Def
~Dragon Claw
~Aerial Ace
~Iron Tail
~Hyper Beam

Special/Physical sweeper. Dragonite has some great stats, but to boost the sweeperness and endurance, EV's go to Sp Atk and HP. Iron Tail covers your weaknesses, not counting dragon (which Dragon Claw covers). Dragon Claw is your main special move, since only Steel has a resistance, and it gets STAB. Aerial Ace also gets STAB, and exploits Dragonite's natural high attack. Hyper Beam also exploits that, but don't use it often, due to it's recharge turn; better to use to finish off a pokemon who's already weakened.

I get your point Cless, while Sunny Day can protect it from Water attacks for a bit, moves like EQ are too common.

The Dragonite isn't too creative IMO. The standard moveset might be largely different because it is a physical sweeping one, but this moveset you've got it just throwing some other different offensive moves on Dragonite, and not changing any strategy whatsoever. That's just what I feel, so I'll wait for a personal opinion on this one.

Dragonite and an all-out attacking set is just normal. Unique moves don't give it a unique style. It just is usually harder to manage effectively or, if it has extra abilities, doesn't utilize them.

Either way, lowered speed is pretty bad to me. I'd go with a Nuetral nature if it's mixed sweeping. Accurate attacks are also easier to use, and Hyper Beam's still not really the best move, but I don't think it was going to be tested anyway.

Oh yeah... and I don't have XD, so I can't get a Rapidash with Baton Pass. :P

I'm almost to that Rapidash on XD.
As for the Dragonite, that was sorta random, spur of the moment thing.

I think

{tauros}@leftovers
- flamethrower
- surf
- thunder bolt/shockwave
- horn drill

Author:  sN0wBaLL [ Sun Nov 06, 2005 10:17 pm ]
Post subject:

Tauros's Special Attack is too low for it to make use of moves like Surf and Flamethrower effectively. Horn Drill is also too inaccurate to be useful.

I hate it when Nintendo do that. Why?!!!! Why did Ampharos have to have such a crap movepool!! Along with horrible attack making no use of the god like Physical moveset.

Author:  Cless [ Mon Nov 07, 2005 1:05 pm ]
Post subject:

The standard Ampharos can be quite good and hard to take out in UU when behind a sub, ready to focus punch and hit with STAB Thunderbolts.

Hi I'm back and I'l be putting up more CRAZY ideas!

{slowbro}
EQ
Shadow Ball
Focus Punch
Yawn

Not sure if I posted this already...

I'll get back when I think of some more.

Welcome back once again.

You've not posted that Slowbro before, but something very similar is already in the Hall of Fame. It was submitted by Benjamin.

What about:

{articuno} Articuno {articuno}
@ Nevermeltice
- Ice Beam
- Mind Reader
- Sheer Cold
- Aerial Ace

Use Mind Reader then Sheer Cold ;) Certain 1 Hit KO! It's the only poke that is compatable of that series of moves

Author:  tiger10x [ Fri Nov 11, 2005 3:49 pm ]
Post subject:

Not entirely. Smeargle can also learn that combo, but I see where you're coming from. Another thing about the certain OHKO, there are some Sturdy Pokemon out there.

Anyway, although it's not the standard, it's still very common in my opinion. It might not be creative enough, but anyway.

Nevermeltice won't help the damage too much, as it only adds 10%. Mixed attacks don't usually work well either, although it doesn't have much a set to go on.

I'll wait for a second opinion.

I agree with tiger10x, it's a common moveset :?

Post subject:

Thar's a bit standard for Articuno, although it you want to try it out practically you'll have to wait a while for it to learn Sheer Cold.

{sudowoodo} @ Lum / Lefties
Adamant | Whatever ability
Block
Substitute
Focus Punch
Filler (Rock Slide or Rest)

Sub-Punch, with a Block to make sure that he won't just switch for a Ghost. Then Rest and do it all over again.

...Although I have a funny feeling this has probably been thought of already...

That set looks oddly familiar, but I don't think anyone thought of it yet. Sub-Punchers are rather common nowadays though, so I'll wait for a second opinion on this one if you don't mind.

Here's mine:

{wailord} @ Leftovers
Calm Nature (+SD, -Atk) | Water Veil
EVs: 252 HP, 252 SD, 6 Def
Amnesia
Rest
Toxic
Whirlpool

Amnesia, Calm nature and EVs heavily in SD and HP to protect it against its two weaknesses, Grass and Electric. Trap with Whirlpool, and Toxic the foe. Rest is self-explanatory. What I'm afraid is that it will fall to physical attacks :?

Not the most creative moveset, but I've never seen any toxi-trapping whales before, so meh.

Sudowoodo: The chances that the opponent will just switch to a Special Sweeper are pretty high when it goes in, so you'd probably just be Blocking a Pokemon that can get you in one attack. Rock Slide would work better for the Filler move, as you would be terribly vulnerable at Sleep, especially if your opponent has made use of the Lum. The lower Speed helps the strategy, but it really doesn't look like it'll survive.

It could be added to the test list, I suppose.

For the Wailord, I really like that idea. It's pretty much like my Gyarados as it not being entirely creative, as it's just a new set for a different style Pokemon. Wailord has only 45 Defense and Special Defense (but 170 HP :P ), so the EV's could go around 252 Defense, 129 Special Defense, and 129 HP. Less Special Defense because you have Amnesia, and the Nature should stay or switch to Bold. (+Def; -Atk) More than likely stay. I'll test it anyway and I'll mix around the EV's and Nature every now and then. Basically, looks like watch out for Steel and Sweepers at first, but a Baton Pass from Gorebyss looks awesome. :P

I'll have the test results down later.

Edit: I think I found the Sudowoodo that was mentioned. Cless put it down on page 27. It was a CBer that had Focus Punch on it.

Another Edit: Sudowoodo did pretty poor in general. No real major team killing sprees. It was just too likely to be taken out. Nope. Wailord should come later, and looks good so far.

Sableye @ leppa berry
Keen Eye
Jolly (+ speed, - sp atk)
252 speed, 129 def, 129 sp def

Toxic
Mean Look
Protect
Detect

I suppose that by alternating between the last two, the success rate of neither will be halved.... Not tested, though, this one's just for fun.

I know sableye has crappy stats, but it's as UU as it gets...

Post subject:

The moveset for Sableye in the Standard Sets Guide actually involves toxi-trapping with Mean Look and Toxic, so I'm not so sure. And with no other moves that can deal damage except for Toxic, you will be owned by Poison and Steel types :?

Author:  Blackwind [ Sun Nov 13, 2005 5:06 am ]
Post subject:

Yeah, likely...
Sableye was the only one that could learn detect, protect and mean look, that was why. Ignore that post, then.

Well, I'll try something else some next time.

Post subject:

Yup, please try again lol. We are hoping more people would participate in this [/advertising]

Post subject:

To add on: I've tested a few things on the games that people might think would work and proved some false and some true. One was that Protect, Detect, and Endure don't work together. Protect then Detect has a 50% chance of Detect not working. Replace with Endure or whatever.

The Wailord worked, but had some difficulties. Most Toxi-stallers and trappers have an Ability or move it can learn to take a job of a different move. That's why they work. Wailord has to use every move spot to work, with not much Ability help. It was a little easy to hit in a battle when it was sent out, as it would still have reasonably low Special Defense, but when it got Amnesia, it was still pretty fragile to Physical Attacks. I had to switch out most of the time, but it did work. It mainly needed another attacking move with more power. Hard to turn down, but just not good enough.

I made this up randomly.
Double Battle Moveset

Earthquake (hint hint)
Brick Break
Megahorn

Protect/ EQ, Megahorn Psychics/Grass (or Ice Beam the latter), etc.
