i am so pissed off with my GP. my right knees swollen and fricking kills and the first question he asks is do i do any sports. i said no cos i dont and then he called me unfit and asked do i sit in front of the tv too much which is completely untrue cos i walk to every single fricking place i go to (apart from at the moment cos i can barley stand up) and i cant sit still for a long time. Do any of u find your doctor a pain in the ass and rude?

It's called diagnosis. If you aren't in sports, then it's unlikely your knee has sustained significant injury. The next explanation for it swelling up would be a buildup of fluid in the knee. It's possible that it could be blood, in which case a fatal clot could form.

Your doc's just doing his job. Quit being an ass and expecting him to wave his hands over you and make everything all better. The man's already overworked, understaffed, and getting railed by insurance companies that file lawsuits over "he gave me a shot and it hurt." Suck it up and work with him rather than against him.

I can hardly comprehend what you're saying, except for your question.

And the answer is "no".

QFT.

But seriously. The doctor asked you a legitimate question and what Jigglypuff says is true. He wanted to know if you played any sports to check the extent of your knee injury. When you said "no", the doctor did the right thing and told you to get in shape.

To sum up, no, I do not find my doctor "a pain in the ass and rude".

lol.

seriously. you don't /have/ to do sports if you really dislike that kind of stuff (and I sure can't stand team sports), but you should do at least SOME serious physical exercise like cycling, swimming, working out at the gym, etc. (I'm fairly sure that just walking to the shops doesn't count).

most doctors that I've had to deal with have been pretty nice people. the only bad one I can remember was a rather snobby ear specialist. pretty sure he was an exception to the rule.
