This reminds me of my level27 Hitmonlee destroying Gary's Rhydon lol.

Nice part, can't wait to see more characters! :)

Really? Dude, nice. I think I did something like that once with something super under-leveled but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

1. This is good for a fanfic, write dat third chapter. <3

2. I like Haberdash. My favorite Pokemon here. Deciding to ship Rayberdash, because it will be LOL worthy.

3. If your team wasn't set-in already and you didn't have a Grass type, I would say get a Roselia man.

4.

I UNDERSTAND THIS MENTALITY BUT *Cries much salt*.

1. This is no fanfic. This is real.
2. I'm only up to 3 of 6 and already you're shipping? Please; Ray is too manly.
3. Roselia sucks in RSE, but not as much as Mawile.

Yep, my first time beating the league. (When I was 8) My team was a HM slave lvl100 Charizard, a lvl64 Mr.Mime and a lvl54 Farfetch'd, with derps from victory road filling the last two spots, and Hitmonlee. So I somehow forgot my Mr.Mime in the box, and challenge the league. (At that point, I had no money, since I didn't have the vs.seeker. I sold sludge bomb to buy a revive)

I had trained my Charizard on onixes up to lvl100, so she had quite a high defence. And we went through the shizz out of the league, managed to get to Gary. My last pokemon was my Charizard and my hitmonlee and his was Rhydon. He critical hit my Charizard, and I send out hitmonlee without any hope. And then it happens: Rhydon misses Double-Edge and I Brick Break him to death.

I was like wew. o_O Historical moment for me.

DNA's Dolo Run of Pokémon Ruby!
Chapter 3: In Which I Make Fun of Everyone, except Beards

<+DNA> guys
<+DNA> guys
<+DNA> you need to wake up now guys
<+DNA> stop doloing
<Haberdash> no
<+DNA> while you were all sleeping I cleared Air's Rock in TLA
<+DNA> and that dungeon takes forever
<+DNA> after getting lost in the overworld
<+DNA> twice
<Haberdash> let me sleep
<+DNA> fine we'll just go visit TT again
* Haberdash springs awake
<Haberdash> Where to, boss?
<+DNA> to Slateport, to deliver this questionable package
<Haberdash> will there be beer?
<+DNA> oplz
<+DNA> who needs beer when you have tea and Crumpets?
<+DNA> get good

After slapping some sense into Haberdash and some consciousness into Ray, I harass Blah and get him to sail us to Slateport to deliver some package to some person or another. I'm really hoping this doesn't turn out to be a downright terrible idea, but I know, deep down inside, it probably will.

The beach on Route 109 has a lot of various battlers, one of which is a fellow dolo'er. Sadly, he had a little too much to drink, so I have to put him to sleep. Nothing personal. I'm kinda miffed that no one on my team knows Sand-Attack, because that would have been perfect for fighting on a beach.

<+DNA> mufufufufu
<+DNA> eat sand, scrubs
<+DNA> and plankton
<+DNA> if there's no ice cream stand here I'm going to be miffed

I have now unofficially turned Route 109 into Goo Lagoon. Now to prove my worth to Larry Lobster by roflstomping everyone on the beach and getting free soda. ...Wait, Larry Lobster doesn't drink soda. IMPOSTER! Everyone in the Seashore House claims to be hot, but we won't go there.

This ends up taking a very long time because, except for Ray, my team is more defensive than offensive. And there are Water-types on the beach, which Ray does not like. That doesn't make it impossible - just tedious...especially when a Wingull gets a Supersonic off and Haberdash keeps smacking herself until it's over.

I am also reminded that Gen 3 has the best Azurill sprite. <3 Curiously, there is no trainer hiding under an umbrella in R/S (they're under umbrellas, but not in the place that's invisible). I guess that must be an Emerald thing. Crumpets is just exploiting the EXP. Share like crazy and shooting up in levels.

When I get to Slateport, the first thing I do is go to the Shipyard. I look around for the guy I'm supposed to deliver this package to, but I can't find him. I ask a guy there (who introduces himself as Dock Robot) where the captain is, and he says he's out somewhere, but isn't sure where. Meanwhile outside I see a bunch of Magma Cultists lining up for the museum. I'm guessing I should go there first.

At the beachside - which is strangely bereft of balloons (Emerald added them later) - there is a merchant there who tells me that it's no secret that the best thing about a secret is secretly telling someone your secret, therefore adding another secret to their secret colletion of secrets, secretly. I ask him what the hell he means by that and he tells me to go get the TM for Secret Power...secretly.

Other points of interest in Slateport are the Fan Club (I can't get the Soothe Bell here, not just yet), the Name Rater (may or may not come in handy), the dock (relevant later), and the Contest Hall (I got a PokeBlock Case and TM41 Torment). I can't get the pass for entering until Verdanturf, because that's where Normal Rank contests are. I have no plans on participating. Now, the plot beckons me, so I must away to the museum.

The Oceanic Museum is, of course, most famous for its piano remix of the S.S. Anne theme, and it is just as wonderful as ever. I notice KoN there, and he gives me TM46 Thief in exchange for leaving him alone. I agree, and he goes off. All the other Magma Cultists are inside; I ignore them and just look at the exhibits for a while. I like doing this. Not sure why. I think it's so I can listen to the music. The captain is upstairs, looking at a scale replica of the S.S. Anne itself.

<The-Kaiser> Sup DNA
<The-Kaiser> long time no see
<+DNA> KAISER!
<+DNA> MY BROSKI
<+DNA> tis awesome to see you again
<The-Kaiser> You too DNA ^_^
<The-Kaiser> How've you been?
<+DNA> everything is well, all things considered.
<+DNA> But I think my Running Shoes are filthy.
<+DNA> OH!
<+DNA> omahanime gave me this package to give to you.
<The-Kaiser> Ah thank you
<The-Kaiser> These must be the rare cards I ordered from him
<The-Kaiser> I'm trying to round out collection
<+DNA> So wait, this package just contains collectible Pokemon TCG product?
<The-Kaiser> Pretty much, yep
<+DNA> then why did they entrust it to TT of all people?
<The-Kaiser> I hear the economy nowadays is pretty shaky
<+DNA> That would...explain it, yes.
<KoN> HOLD IT
<KoN> I'll be taking that package now!
<+DNA> you?
<+DNA> the heck? I thought you left.
<KoN> FOOL! Magma Cult is best cult
<+DNA> that argument doesn't even work.
<+DNA> lemme guess, they mass-cloned you too?
<+DNA> Who's the meaty guy next to you?
<Meaty> that would be me
<+DNA> ...of course...
<+DNA> wait, why do YOU want Pokemon TCG product
<Meaty> I don't
<Meaty> I plan to sell it and use the proceeds to buy stuff for Vanguard
<Meaty> which you should totally play, by the way
<+DNA> I will never play it as long as you exist
<+DNA> now let's fight

Magma Cultist Meaty is first up with his lv. 15 Numel. A fitting choice, honestly, for him. Shame he wasn't on Team Aqua; I hear some of their number use Psyduck. A single Double Kick from Ray and he's done. Meaty and his Vanguard-loving ass has been shamed, leaving his partner KoN-clone to clean up the mess. I'm pretty sure they mass-cloned Meaty too, which is going to be ANNOYING. They're all going to ask me to play Vanguard and I'm going to keep saying no. KoN has a lv. 14 Zubat and Numel, both of which go down easily.

Right after I beat them up, some other guy comes in and looks very displeased.

*** MagmaBoss has joined #museum
<@MagmaBoss> you guys suck
<@MagmaBoss> you get roflstomped by some random kid?
<@MagmaBoss> if we weren't so low-budget I would have paid extra
<KoN> ;-;
<Meaty> ;-;
<@MagmaBoss> and who are you?
<+DNA> me? I'm the protagonist.
<@MagmaBoss> nice try
<@MagmaBoss> I'm not losing to you
<+DNA> what, would you rather lose to Lenny? that's fine by me
<Ray> buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurn
<@MagmaBoss> just go off and do your protagonist thing
<@MagmaBoss> all I really need is more members for my cult
<@MagmaBoss> We wish to expand the land and make life easier for everyone, people and Pokemon alike.
<@MagmaBoss> Your inability to understand our noble cause can't be helped...
<+DNA> I understand it just fine
<+DNA> I just don't see why you need thugs...mooks, at that...to make it happen.
<+DNA> There are other ways to move mountains for you.
<@MagmaBoss> whatever
<@MagmaBoss> when next we meet, don't expect any mercy.
*** MagmaBoss has left #museum
<+DNA> that guy...
<+DNA> He didn't show his face once. I have the feeling I've seen him before, though...
<The-Kaiser> Nice Job DNA
<The-Kaiser> You really helped me out there, big time
<+DNA> no probs
* DNA gives The-Kaiser his package of Pokemon TCG product
<The-Kaiser> I'd best sort these right away so they don't get damaged
<The-Kaiser> see you around!
<+DNA> o/
<The-Kaiser> o/
*** The-Kaiser has left #museum

Nice guy, Kaiser. I'll kill him last. So, I think my business in this town is done, so where to next? I'm guessing I should go north, hopefully close in on Rustboro via the land route. Route 110 is home to Cycling Road, but I can't take that yet, sadly. This just leaves me to take the low road, but on the plus side, it means I get to check out MY FAVORITE PLACE IN ANY POKEMON GAME EVER <3

*** DNA has joined #trickhouse
<+DNA> ...
<+DNA> I get the distinct feeling that a lurker is watching me
<+DNA> STOP LURKING
<+DNA> ...
<+DNA> welp, time to tear up the place to look for this lurker
<+DNA> READY OR NOT HERE I COME
<+DNA> I SEE YOU
* DNA yanks lurker out from under the desk
<EvilPenguin> jerk
<EvilPenguin> I was sleeping
<+DNA> LIAR
<EvilPenguin> why are you here
<+DNA> why WOULDN'T I be here
<+DNA> this is the freaking trick house
<EvilPenguin> it is?
<EvilPenguin> I'm pretty sure it's the penguin house
<+DNA> just because the last challenge involves sliding on floors does not give you the right to call it the penguin house
<EvilPenguin> stfu it's my house and I'll do what I want to
<+DNA> is it for tax dodge purposes
<EvilPenguin> maybe
<+DNA> you know you shouldn't be so
<+DNA> tricky
* EvilPenguin slaps DNA around a bit with a large trout
<+DNA> I regret nothing
<EvilPenguin> FINE
<EvilPenguin> BUT YOU'LL NEVER MAKE IT TO THE BACK
<+DNA> yes I will
<EvilPenguin> WITHOUT INPUTTING THE PASSWORD OF GLORIOUS PRAISE
<EvilPenguin> I'LL BE WAITING
* EvilPenguin launches like a rocket into the sky
<+DNA> ...
<+DNA> and we're sure that EP is the Trick Master, and not Fletchscrub
<Ray> positive.
<+DNA> welp
<+DNA> time to go

Dangit, my bag is full already. When did the Mail compartment come around? Oh, right, Gen 4. DANGIT. brb PC

Through an intricate series of cutting trees, I make it to the back with the password.

<+DNA> so apparently the password is "EP is fabulous"
<+DNA> what's up with that
<EvilPenguin> excuse me sir
<EvilPenguin> but it's spelt 'fabuloooooooooooous'
<+DNA> you forgot the lisp
<EvilPenguin> stfu
<EvilPenguin> fine you made it
<EvilPenguin> here
* EvilPenguin gives DNA a Rare Candy
<+DNA> and why are you giving me steroids?
<EvilPenguin> because I have extra
<+DNA> I won't ask
<EvilPenguin> COME BACK AGAIN NEXT TIME FOR THE NEXT EXCITING INSTALLMENT OF...
<EvilPenguin> EVILPENGUIN'S TOTALLY IMPROMPTU TRICK HOUSE
* EvilPenguin launches like a rocket into the sky
<+DNA> he's gone, for now
* DNA scrawls "DNA is better than you" in graffiti on the wall
<+DNA> the damage is done
<+DNA> let's gtfo

And now the plot beckons me to ignore EP until a little later. I am totally down with this. I'm going to have to clear out a fair amount of trainers on the way, but it's okay - we can Diglett. We'll detour onto Route 103 first before going along the main route. Some lady at the right thinks it's her soul-soothing fragrance that pulled me yonder. ...I'm fairly sure that adrenaline is not a fragrance.

Meanwhile, Plusle and Minun are being supremely annoying with their Thunder Waves. At least double Leech Seed in a Double Battle is awesome.

<Haberdash> nom nom nom nom

This is my greatest idea ever. A little ways up the route, I (don't) get surprised.

<+Lenny> o/
<+DNA> o/
<+DNA> stop crossdressing
<+Lenny> never >:O
<+DNA> if I beat you in the Pokemanz, will you stop crossdressing
<+Lenny> no
<+DNA> fine, then I'll beat you up anyway
<+Lenny> ;-;
<+DNA> prepare yourself

Admittedly, this is one of the harder rival fights in the game, for sure. Lenny's opener is a lv. 18 Shroomish, on par with my opener, Crumpets, also at lv. 18. Crumpets gets his Supersonic off, but the Shroomish also gets a Stun Spore off. Frustrating. Crumpets decides to be a bat and feast on Shroomish with Leech Life. He does so in such a dignified manner that it's almost scary. He gets it down to a third of its HP, but it drops a Leech Seed, so he tags out to Ray, who finishes it off easily, with, surprise surprise, a critical hit.

<Crumpets> Truly, our Shroomish is superior.
<Haberdash> <3

Ray ends up gaining a level and trying to learn Sand-Attack. Sure, NOW you learn it, after we're a LONG WAY AWAY from the beach. No thank you.

Speaking of Shroomish, though, Lenny then drops his lv. 20 Marshtomp on me. He has it open with Bide, but that doesn't bother Haberdash at all; her opener is Leech Seed + Stun Spore anyway. By the time his Bide goes off (for zero), he's lost a third of his HP, and Mega Drain puts him solidly in the red. Leech Seed seals the deal, and Marshtomp goes down with no trouble whatsoever.

Last one is a lv. 18 Numel. I tag to Crumpets, but he doesn't do so well, so it looks like this is a job for Ray, who accepts it with ease. And with that, Lenny is down. ...Man, Treecko really IS hard mode; with him I have a lot of trouble since Combusken is a walking murder machine.

<+DNA> I hope you learned a valuable lesson
<+Lenny> is it my fault that I look so good in girl's clothes?
<+DNA> you look hideous; stop deluding yourself
<+Lenny> SHUT UP ;-;
* Lenny rides off on bicycle
*** Lenny has left #route
<+DNA> that was a whole lot funnier than I expected.
<+DNA> Hm? Looks like he dropped the Dowsing Machine.
<+DNA> This should come in handy later.

And now that I made a "girl" cry, it is time for me to continue with my dolo run. I think I found a Great Ball a little ways up the path, as well as a Revive. And I didn't even turn the Dowsing Machine on. I just looked in patches of not-grass.

Mauville City is shaped like a plus sign, or a crossroads, whatever sounds funnier to you. I like my plus sign explanation better. There are a few things I can do here, so I'll go over them one at a time while Crumpets fixes us elevenses. Whatta guy.

Right at the entrance to town is a woman that reminisces about Harbor Mail in Slateport. My memory banks tell me that she will swap you a Harbor Mail for a Coin Case, so I run back to Slateport as quickly as I can to get her one. (It didn't take that long.) The house next door has a guy that gives you HM06 Rock Smash. I teach it to Slave 0. It WILL be important later. I need to catch a Wingull sometime soon to become a Slave 1.

<+DNA> ah, there we are
<+DNA> the bike shop
<Ray> which bike do you plan to get, DNA?
<Ray> well, at first. We can always swap later.
<Haberdash> Get an Acro Bike so we can cruise at an even pace and jump around?
<+DNA> psssh
<+DNA> Mach Bike master race

And then Rydel gave me a bike. He wasn't cast as anyone important because he only gets 15 seconds of screentime.

<Ray> but the NPC has a name!
<Ray> shouldn't you cast him as somebody?
<+DNA> hmm, you have a point...
* DNA thinks
<+DNA> okay fine
<+DNA> GhostPony will give me the bike
<GhostPony750> whoo \o/

The Game Corner is irrelevant save for some chick who gives me a Torchic Doll (SCORE), but the Gym is quite relevant. Some slouch is blocking the door, though.

<Gale> dammit Xander
<Gale> lemme take the gym challenge
<Xander> no >:O
<Gale> I actually HAVE a Pokemon, unlike you
<Xander> which happens to be a weak sexual object
<Xander> your Pokemon is bad and you should feel bad
<Gale> assuming your taste is any better
<Xander> there's a reason I don't play Pokemon :D
<+DNA> I just got a sense of deja vu right then
<Xander> whoa DNA
<Xander> how long have you been standing there
<+DNA> ...I just got here.
<Gale> were you eavesdropping on our conversation?
<+DNA> ...no
<Gale> ...you must forget everything you heard.
<Xander> don't worry
<Xander> we'll help you forget!
<+DNA> this isn't Golden Sun, you nimrods
<+DNA> now why are you even here, blocking the way to a required point for plot progression?
<Gale> isn't it obvious?
<Gale> I'm trying to progress the plot
<Gale> also I made a bet with Xander
<+DNA> were one or both of you high at the time?
<Xander> ...maybe
<+DNA> well, it's you we're talking about, Xander
<+DNA> I already know the answer to that question
<Crumpets> Sir DNA, your tea is ready.
<+DNA> Excellent, Crumpets. We shall take it here.
<Crumpets> In front of the Gym?
<+DNA> Yes.
<Xander> hey Gale
<Xander> let's make this bet a little more interesting
<Xander> all you have to do is beat DNA
<Xander> if you win, I'll leave you alone
<Xander> if you lose, I'll...
<+DNA> harass Gale with your bad taste in games and your sexbox360 gamer achievements?
<Xander> HEY
<Xander> I WORKED HARD TO GET THOSE ACHIEVEMENTS
<+DNA> I know
<+DNA> that's the problem
<Gale> this is just going from bad to worse. let's just get this over with.
<+DNA> I couldn't agree more. Crumpets, you're up.
<Gale> Go, weak sexual object!
<+DNA> that's a horrible thing to call your lv. 16 Ralts
<+DNA> even though it's true
<Xander> See? even DNA agrees with me
<Gale> >_<

Crumpet's Supersonic rang true, causing the Ralts to smack itself. Crumpets then followed up with Astonish, while the Ralts did a Double Team. This caused Crumpets' next attack to miss, but then Ralts hit itself again and fell over unconscious. It never hit Crumpets once.

<Xander> wow
<Xander> that fight was
<Xander> short-lived
<Xander> and somewhat kinky
<Gale> how the hell was that kinky?
<+DNA> hit self, Double Team, hit self again
<+DNA> it's a stretch, but he's right
<+DNA> tbf Gale I thought you'd be way more challenging
<+DNA> I guess that doesn't happen until later
<Xander> well, you lost, gale
<Xander> you know what that means
<Gale> DAMMIT
<Gale> I lost my earplugs in that bet
<+DNA> HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
<+DNA> gg no re gale
<Xander> oh DNA
<Xander> I heard that Gale asked PMJ to get a Pokemon way back
<Xander> he told me you were there at the time; is this true?
<+DNA> yes
<Xander> then this makes you the protag
<Xander> see Gale? I told you that you couldn't progress the plot
<Xander> leave that stuff to DNA; he's actually competent
<Gale> dammit Xander
<+DNA> haha, wow
<Xander> anyway, if you want to visit, we'll be in Verdanturf
<+DNA> gl hf o/
*** Xander has left #mauville
*** Gale has left #mauville

Somehow, everything becomes funnier when Xander is involved. I know the Mauville Gym is going to be a pain and a half to defeat, but since I have Ray it might go a little easier. I make a brief detour on Route 118 to gain a bit of EXP. It wasn't very much, but hopefully it'll be enough.

Oh, and the tea was delicious, for those curious. Crumpets also picked up Wing Attack, so yay, useful STAB!

Mauville Gym is full of Electric-types, so Crumpets will probably sit this one out unless Voltorb is involved, and even then maybe. Still, I give him the EXP Share so he won't feel left out. Ray will be handling the offensive front, and Haberdash the defensive one. With that in mind, I try not to be driven insane by the electric barriers, and Thunder Wave.

In the end, they weren't that big of a deal. Now for the main event.

<+DNA> !challenge
<@Ganon> I've given up on my plans to convert the city, I have. And so, I put my time into making door traps in my Gym. Oh? Now, what are you doing here?
<@Ganon> What's that? You say you've gotten passed all my rigged doors? Wahahahah! Now, that is amusing! Then I, Ganon, the Leader of Mauville Gym, shall electrify you!
<+DNA> Few have beards as awesome as Ganon...or Wattson.
<+DNA> I shouldn't be surprised to see you here, though I was expecting bacon.
<@Ganon> bacon couldn't pull off a beard this awesome
<@Ganon> also
* Ganon np: Swedish Pagans - Sabaton
<+DNA> ...DAMN YOU
<+DNA> it's stuck in my head!
<@Ganon> and you're complaining, why?
<+DNA> this is true
<+DNA> epic fight music indeed. now let's begin!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcAhDcqNmlQ to those curious. It really is an amazing song, especially if you're into Euro-rock.

Ganontodd opens with a lv. 22 Magnemite, while I open with Ray, also at lv. 22. For whatever reason I remember his Magneton at the end being lv. 28, but that can't be right. Either way, Double Kick is an OHKO, and Magnemite is down for the count. His lv. 20 Voltorb is next, and I let Haberdash handle this one, in her usual Leech Seed+Stun Spore+wait style. Good thing I did, since the Voltorb is using Spark repeatedly, while Haberdash is tanking. Then, out of nowhere, it pulls Self-Destruct, KOing Haberdash (and itself) instantly. This makes things a bit easier, since it leaves Ray alone to handle his lv. 23 Magneton. It outspeeds and uses Supersonic, which hits, causing Ray to hit himself. It then went Sonic Boom to Double Kick, and then to Shock Wave, which KOs Ray.

I throw out a Wurmple as fodder while I revive Haberdash (I only have 2 Revives, so I'd best play cautiously). Magnetodd's Sonicboom misses, giving Haberdash a Leech Seed, so this should be in the bag, I think. Stun Spore lands as well, so this fight is all but mine. After the next, she has 21 HP, letting her live through a Sonicboom. Ganon uses a Super Potion, bringing Magneton almost up to full again, but I'm honestly not that worried. Neither Tackle nor Mega Drain are doing much to Magneton, so I opt for Tackle to conserve PP. It does use Thunder Wave, paralyzing Haberdash, so now it comes down to who can outwait the other. Shock Wave does about 17-19 damage, just under Sonicboom, so if I can keep Haberdash above 20 HP (which she has been the whole time), the fight is basically won, despite Haberdash being paralyzed and now also confused (for now). Ganontodd certainly isn't making it easy, since he's used 2 Super Potions now. At some points (2 in total), Haberdash does fall below 20, so I use those turns to apply a Potion.

<@Ganon> not bad, DNA
<@Ganon> that was actually a pretty even fight.
<+DNA> indeed it was. Magneton sure isn't easy.
<@Ganon> you should know that by now.
<@Ganon> I congratulate you.
* Ganon gives the Dynamo Badge and TM34 Shock Wave.
<@Ganon> where do you plan to head next? North, or west?
<+DNA> West first, then north. I have some small business to the west, but I'll be going north.
<@Ganon> you plan to use Baltoy?
<+DNA> lol
<+DNA> not this time
<@Ganon> how about a Water-type?
<+DNA> yep
<@Ganon> which one?
<+DNA> Barboach
<@Ganon> ouch
<+DNA> yeah...
<@Ganon> that's not going to be for a WHILE. You'll need to beat PMJ if you want one of those.
<+DNA> I know, but it will be SO WORTH.
<+DNA> Surf STAB and Earthquake and getting Rest by level-up? yes please
<@Ganon> for real
<@Ganon> anyway, good luck. I hope Swedish Pagans gets stuck in your head forever. :P
<+DNA> lololololol
<+DNA> o/
*** DNA has left #gym

End of Chapter 3!

DNA's Team So Far:

{combusken} Ray lv. 22
{zubat} Crumpets lv. 21
{shroomish} Haberdash lv. 20

I predict the next part is not going to be pretty. At all.

I hope I get to tragically die in this story, cuz I can't just give you a bike, and survive this event, omg.

Haberdash 4 the win! <3

You want me to say something witty?
Aqua Cult is best cult.

Not sure if Flannery or just Dread Incarnate

They show up in the next part and they're called something completely different.
They're not a cult.
When you see the name you will probably double over in laughter.

1. This is no fanfic. This is real.
2. I'm only up to 3 of 6 and already you're shipping? Please; Ray is too manly.
3. Roselia sucks in RSE, but not as much as Mawile.
4.

1. Learns that DOLO is better than fanfic.
2. I'm considering shipping Haybets instead. How the heck is your bat British? Freakin funny, I admit favoritism over manly man Ray.
3. *Agreement, but Roselia still is boss*
4. And how the heck did I expect this answer??

Keep up the DOLO. Insert me as the most obnoxious character possible, to be realistic.

Omg, this thread is wonderful! xD

GhostPony's backstory wrote:
I take one last sip of milk, as I click on that link, leading to that hilarious story. This is a work still in progress, and the next part is released. Truly excited, I read the few comments above, and I start reading the 3rd chapter.

I can't retain a squee of joy, as I waited for this part for two days now. Time to cheer up for Haberdash. As I get focused on these lines of dialogue, I enter in a trance, I read without even seeing the time pass, without even knowing that I have to shiet pretty hard. Suddenly, I start to feel heavy, I feel sleepy.

A weird sound awakes me, it's the wind. It takes a few minutes before I completly wake up. Everything is destoyed around me, there are pieces of walls and floor floating everywhere, forming a box shaped room, and I can see outside; there is nothing. Absolutely nothing, it's the only way to describe it. As I'm lying on my chair, someone enters, or actually appear at the corner of the "room". He stares at me strangely, he then starts to shake, and a box of text appears:

[Who... who are you?]

As I'm about to answer, everything suddenly turns pitch black, and I end up regaining consiousness. DNA is squeezing a bike in his backpack. I then realises that I have to shiet, and yells a "whoo", my hands in the air, as he leaves the building, followed by a british Zubat.

-...There is no toilets in this world.

I'm more skilled with french words, but I guess this will do the job lol. Awesome, I can't wait to die! :D

Yay HW! :)

DNA's Dolo Run of Pokémon Ruby!
Chapter 4: Everyone Be Raging, except Me

* DNA sneaks into the Great Gabomba
<+DNA> sup akafubu
<+DNA> i'm in your pad lol
<Haberdash> do you ever NOT play Golden Sun
<+DNA> yeah.
<Haberdash> example?
<+DNA> when I'm journeying over Hoenn.
<+DNA> okay guys, I have this plan.
<+DNA> Our 4th and 5th team members don't come until later, and they're going to be right after the other, essentially.
<+DNA> So, we're going to stealth our way past the plot until we can get them, and then whoop on all the trainers we missed.
<Crumpets> Master DNA, you do realize that means claiming victory against not only one, but two Gym Leaders, AND a key figure of the Magma Cult?
<+DNA> yes, I am very well aware.
<Haberdash> question
<+DNA> shoot
<Haberdash> are you INSANE!?
<+DNA> I am
<+DNA> very much so
<+DNA> you in or not?
<Haberdash> yes
<Haberdash> obv
<+DNA> then let's go

And so we do, taking the most direct route towards the plot (which is waiting right now at Meteor Falls), avoiding as many trainers as possible on the way, as well as any other would-be diversions.

<Kecleon-X> hey DNA
<Porygon-X> can we hit you up for an interview?
<+DNA> no

Other than gaining TMs 43 and 32, the former from Spongebob's Secret Club and the latter lying on the ground amongst volcanic ash, there is nothing worth talking about until we get there. I don't sneak past everyone, but I sneak past most of them.

*** DNA has joined #meteorfalls
<Ray> there they are
<Ray> let's jump them. Ready DNA?
<Ray> ...DNA?
<+DNA> I think Kraden's having a seizure
<+DNA> I have never seen this before in my life
<Ray> DNA stop testing Golden Sun's linearity for about 15 seconds and help us rescue this guy
<+DNA> are pedos involved?
<Ray> probably not
<+DNA> I'm in
<Haberdash> is TT involved?
<Ray> definitely not
<Haberdash> I'm also in

<KoN> Meteorite get
<KoN> this was a success
<Meaty> indeed
<Meaty> with this we can convince everyone to join Vanguard Cult
<KoN> You do realize we're not Vanguard Cult, right?
<Meaty> I realize this, yes
<KoN> are you sure you're in the right line of work
*** HeavenlySpoon has joined #meteorfalls
*** Cinesra has joined #meteorfalls
<@HeavenlySpoon> hold it!
<@HeavenlySpoon> Cult or otherwise, you will not leave with that meteorite!
<KoN> curses
<KoN> it's the Spoon Pirates
<KoN> let's bounce, Meaty
<Meaty> I thought you said this wasn't a card game
<KoN> shut up and move
*** KoN has left #meteorfalls
*** Meaty has left #meteorfalls
<+DNA> Spoon Pirates?
<+DNA> really?
<Cinesra> Spoon Pirates are best pirates
<Cinesra> obv
<+DNA> this is starting to sound like a bad fanfiction
<@HeavenlySpoon> been having trouble with Magma Cult lately?
<+DNA> other than them being annoying and blocking the plot, not at all
<@HeavenlySpoon> Magma Cult has been increasing in activity lately
<@HeavenlySpoon> and this bothers me.
<Cinesra> they're planning their next op on Mt Chimney. we should go.
<@HeavenlySpoon> you're right.
<@HeavenlySpoon> DNA, if you're headed that way, I would appreciate the help. See you round.
*** HeavenlySpoon has left #meteorfalls
*** Cinesra has left #meteorfalls
<+DNA> so...
<+DNA> ...the Magma Cult...
<+DNA> ...vs the Spoon Pirates
<+DNA> oooooooookaaaaaaaaaaaay

I'd best finish up here. Apparently, Magma Cult was harassing this guy named Professor Carlos, who found the meteorite to begin with. I think I've seen him before, maybe in Sinnoh? He got convinced and/or bullied by Magma Cult to guide them to meteorites, and...well, I stepped in.

I'm done, so I shortcut my way back with Teleport (go Abra) and then walk east from Fallarbor, again stealthing my way past all the trainers. It works - I don't fight anyone new on the way back, until I get to the mountaintop. When I get there, I see quite a scene - Magma Cult vs Spoon Pirates is going on in full swing. I can't even climb down the Jagged Pass, but that's to be expected. Up ahead, Spoon is single-handedly taking on three Cultists, while telling me to stop the Cult from using the meteorite to force an eruption. That's pretty gnarly, honestly. I can get behind stopping that, and beating up KoN/Meaty clones while I'm at it. I (well, just Ray) beat past 1 of them, as well as the man named Tabitha, before getting to the big guy. He's been doing well enough, you could say he's...

<Ray> ...on fire?
<+DNA> YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

Okay, boss time. I'm getting the headphones for this one.

<@MagmaBoss> finally. with this meteorite, I will have a world of my own.
<@MagmaBoss> a world not infringed upon by anyone...
<@MagmaBoss> especially not by DNA.
<+DNA> sup jefe
<@MagmaBoss> DNA!?
<+DNA> that was an interesting slip on your part.
<+DNA> you HAVE seen me before.
<+DNA> and for whatever reason, you bear a grudge on me.
<@MagmaBoss> This is true.
<@MagmaBoss> Just once, I'd like to have something all to myself, something where you don't get involved and beat me to the punch.
<@MagmaBoss> I'd hoped the volcano would erupt before you got here, but no such luck.
<@MagmaBoss> I don't think I can beat you...
<@MagmaBoss> but, I'm going to try anyway!
<+DNA> hm, just like old times.
<+DNA> I don't know who you are...many people bear grudges against me.
<+DNA> I suppose I'll find out soon enough. You hide your face under a cultist's hood...
<+DNA> you live nameless...and you will die nameless! C'mon guys! let's go!

And so, the thus-far nameless Magma Boss engages me in combat, with an excellent theme tune only heard twice in the entire game - which is a shame, because it's a GREAT tune. It reminds me of sharks for some reason, so I always find it more fitting to go with Aqua's leader, but I'll take it. First up is a lv. 24 Mightyena, who is 2HKO'd by Ray (at lv. 25), despite Intimidate. Next up is a lv. 25 Camerupt, and I decide to tag to Crumpets, despite that I may very well regret this decision. He does get Supersonic off, thankfully, and it hits itself, giving a free turn. After 2 Wing Attacks, and Camerupt hitting itself again, the Boss is down yet another.

The last is a lv. 24 Golbat, and I decide to be unusual and deploy Haberdash, at least initially. Bad idea, since Wing Attack almost knocks her out. Leech Seed does hit, though, so the damage has been done. I leave the Golbat of my own to finish the job, since I know he will. He decides to just skip to Wing Attack and disregard Supersonic, since Leech Seed already gave him the edge. Magma Boss ended up using 2 Super Potions on Golbat, and I'm thankful Camerupt hit itself before he got the chance to use it on that instead.

<+DNA> looks like that's that.
<@MagmaBoss> DAMMIT DNA
<@MagmaBoss> why must I lose to you ;-;
<+DNA> I'm the protag
<+DNA> I can't lose, didn't you hear?
<@MagmaBoss> ...fine.
<@MagmaBoss> I guess I'll have to try a different approach.
<@MagmaBoss> obviously we'll need to lie low, since we can't have you poking around.
<@MagmaBoss> goodbye, DNA. I hope you lose, hard.
*** MagmaBoss has left #mtchimney
<@HeavenlySpoon> thanks DNA. we managed to clear out the Cult.
<@HeavenlySpoon> I'm not sure where they're going next, though.
<@HeavenlySpoon> we'll keep up the hunt. you go off and do your protag thing.
<@HeavenlySpoon> Good luck.
*** HeavenlySpoon has left #mtchimney

I stealth my way down Jagged Pass, and bam, I'm in Lavaridge Town. I can't stealth my way past the gym-well, I CAN, but then I'll miss up on all the juicy exp. First thing I do, though, is pickup the Wynaut egg. This will definitely be relevant later. I write very little detail except in certain sections, because I really really REALLY want that Barboach.

<Haberdash> do you have a thing for Barboach
<Haberdash> are you like the Barboach version of TT
<Haberdash> because if you are I will cut you
* Haberdash waves knife
<+DNA> ...dammit, Habby.

Ray will probably be the main contender in the fight with his Double Kick, with Crumpets supplying good support with Wing Attack. Haberdash will have to sit this one out completely, except for maybe dropping a Leech Seed on Torkoal, but I'm pretty sure she'll be outsped anyway, thus...she'll be useless here. The faster I get this gym over with, the faster I can move on.

What I'm most curious about is who is cast as Flannery, given how the Internet is flaming for her, pun fully intended. But then again, this is my run, and Flannery is hideous jailbait, so I can do whatever the crap I want in the name of karmic justice.

Bring it, haters.

<+DNA> so ChillBill
<+DNA> this is a Fire-type gym, right?
<+DNA> have you any generic tips that I most likely know about already?
<ChillBill> plenty
<ChillBill> you obviously know fire beats grass, right?
<Haberdash> and how ;-;
<ChillBill> but water is their weakness, so hose them down and go for it!
<+DNA> what
<+DNA> was that a joke about a wet t-shirt contest or something?
<ChillBill> bitch it might be
<+DNA> the only thing that could make that any weirder was if HauntedWater was the gym leader

And for those curious how I got through the gym, Ray's Double Kick was amazing - so amazing, in fact, that I don't even need to go back to the Center and heal. I also remember this gym being larger in Emerald.

<+DNA> !challenge
<@HauntedWater> Welcome... No, wait. Puny Trainer, how good to see you've made it here! I have been entrusted with the... No, wait.
<@HauntedWater> I am HauntedWater, and I'm the Gym Leader here! Uh... Dare not underestimate me, though I have been Leader only a short time!
<@HauntedWater> With skills inherited from my grandfather, I shall, uh...demonstrate the hot moves we have honed on this land!

...and I spoke too soon

<@HauntedWater> DNA
<@HauntedWater> why did you turn me into jailbait
<+DNA> is it not obvious?
<@HauntedWater> no
<@HauntedWater> or I wouldn't have asked
<+DNA> very well
<+DNA> it is for the purpose of making the internet buttmad
<@HauntedWater> ...go on
<+DNA> the internet loves to idolize Flannery in numerous and factually incorrect ways
<+DNA> thus, by replacing that figure with you, two effects are created - a reaction, and its equal and opposite reaction.
<+DNA> the first being that their obsession shall continue, except you are now their new erotic model;
<+DNA> and the second being that their obsession is turned into utter revulsion by seeing their favorite chick gym leader replaced by an ugly man
<+DNA> suck it lolicons
<@HauntedWater> ...
<@HauntedWater> you bitch
<@HauntedWater> and yet
<@HauntedWater> I approve of this
<+DNA> it could be worse
<+DNA> you could be Lenny
<@HauntedWater> LOL
<@HauntedWater> k let's fight
<+DNA> with pleasure

HW opens with a lv. 26 Slugma, while I open with lv. 27 Ray. I think he's going to be fighting a lot, so I open with Focus Energy, and he chooses Light Screen. hah, what a waste. Ray's fantastic Double Kick crits and knocks the Slugma out instantly.

<@HauntedWater> hax
<+DNA> obv
<@HauntedWater> i hate you

He then sends out...ANOTHER lv. 26 Slugma. Double Kick doesn't crit, though it is a 2HKO. He does get a chance to get Sunny Day off, which may be pertinent later. On this, Ray levels up, and drops Focus Energy for the superior Bulk Up.

<@HauntedWater> welp
<@HauntedWater> time to actually pretend to care
* HauntedWater sends out lv. 28 Torkoal
<+DNA> the sunlight is strong with this one
<+DNA> come on, show me what you've got.

Ray crit with Double Kick, and it was still only a third of its HP. Torkoal then Body Slams, stunning Ray. Not good. It then detonates in an Overheat, KOing him instantly. You know what that means - Haberdash, you're up.

<Haberdash> WHAT!?
<+DNA> you just need to outspeed and you're good
<Haberdash> that's obviously not going to happen!
<+DNA> can't you at least try?
<Haberdash> fine
* Haberdash tries
<@HauntedWater> overheat gg
<Haberdash> damn you DNA
* Haberdash faints
<+DNA> welp, that feeds into my true plan quite nicely
<Haberdash> your true...DNA YOU DICK
* Crumpets used Supersonic
* Torkoal is confused

aw yiss Crumpets
sadly it only lasted for 1 turn and Torkoal got attract off. not good. After a few Body Slams, Crumpets is down too.

<@HauntedWater> lol
<@HauntedWater> i win gg
<+DNA> you're so naive
* DNA uses Revive on Ray
<@HauntedWater> WTF
<@HauntedWater> FINE
* HauntedWater uses Hyper Potion on Torkoal
<@HauntedWater> TWO CAN PLAY AT THAT GAME
<+DNA> k
* DNA uses Revive on Haberdash
<+DNA> if only you could actually get a ghost-type at this point
<+DNA> like
<+DNA> if litwick existed in hoenn, you'd get stomped
<@HauntedWater> but it doesn't
<@HauntedWater> so gg

I tried the Haberdash trick again and he Overheated. I need to stop trying that. Welp, Ray, you're up.

<Ray> time to be unorthodox
* Ray uses Bulk Up
<@HauntedWater> are you really trying to just get yourself to +6/+6
<+DNA> or close to it.
<Ray> hey, it works.
<@HauntedWater> I hope I crit you
<+DNA> you won't
<+DNA> get salt
<@HauntedWater> ha
<@HauntedWater> i paralyzed you
<@HauntedWater> get salt
* DNA uses Soda Pop and Paralyze Heal on Ray
<@HauntedWater> FFS
<Ray> +5/+5 is good enough
<Ray> now DIE!

Double Kick went from an attack that dealt 30% with a crit to 80% without one. Body Slam failed to paralyze after that, and Ray did his Ray thing and roflstomped Torkoal.

<@HauntedWater> GDI
<@HauntedWater> NOW I KNOW HOW TEAPOT FELT IN DOLO PEARL
<+DNA> at least, unlike teapot, you were legitimately challenging
<+DNA> damn torkoal
<@HauntedWater> so
<@HauntedWater> cons: i get roflstomped and get turned into jailbait
<+DNA> but not in that order
<@HauntedWater> pros: i have a sexy torkoal that you always have trouble with, and I made the internet mad
<+DNA> yep
<@HauntedWater> good enough for me
<@HauntedWater> here, have this Heat Badge and TM50 Overheat that I don't actually care about
<+DNA> aww yee
<@HauntedWater> so you're fighting Darth Vader next, right?
<+DNA> just because he's my in-game father and he's black doesn't mean he's Darth Vader
<@HauntedWater> don't care
<@HauntedWater> PMJ is Darth Vader now
<+DNA> ...
<+DNA> i'm just gonna go
<+DNA> have fun with your wet t-shirt contest
<@HauntedWater> what
<+DNA> Chillbill, he's all yours
<@HauntedWater> YOU BITCH

End of Chapter 4!

DNA's Team So Far:

{combusken} Ray lv. 28
{golbat} Crumpets lv. 25
{shroomish} Haberdash lv. 22

Egg lv. ??

Ray was the only one conscious after all that. Good ol' Ray.

DNA's Dolo Run of Pokémon Ruby!
Chapter 5: It was Four Chapters Later, not Seven

Four down, four to go. My powering-through is almost done, and after this, there are three main things I need do: beat PMJ, catch a Wingull (for Surf and Fly), and snag the Good Rod to get Barboach. The first two I can do in either order, but I recall Wingull being somewhat elusive. Still that doesn't mean I just give up and do whatever, because that would be dumb.

But before anything else, my team needs patching up. I run into Lenny.

<+Lenny> sup DNA
<+DNA> sup Pride's whipping boy
<+Lenny> why do you keep doing this to me
<+DNA> because I keep telling you to stop crossdressing
<+DNA> and, as usual, you keep ignoring me
<+Lenny> anyway, Pride told me to give you these Go-Goggles
<+DNA> Go-Goggles? Who names this stuff?
<+Lenny> idk
<+Lenny> can I go now so you will stop harassing me?
<+DNA> yes, you may go

It is now time for me to continue stealthing my way past all the trainers. I will go by way of Verdanturf, because not only is it the fastest and easiest way there, but because I really don't care about Verdanturf, and if I don't visit it now, I never will.

Also, I get to bug Gale and Xander. I snag a Nugget jumping down the ledges from Lavaridge and go on my merry way. There's also a Revive I pick up on Route 111, but other than that I run into no trainers - which is good, because I COMPLETELY forgot to heal my team. But I'm in Verdanturf now, so it's k.

<+DNA> hey Xander
<+DNA> where's Waldo?
<+DNA> I mean Wally
<+DNA> I mean Gale
<+DNA> dangit I need sleep
<Xander> he snuck off
<Xander> probably tired of listening to me
<+DNA> oh, okay
*** DNA has left #house
<Xander> wait why are you going
<Xander> deena stahp

I can pick up a Contest Pass and TM45 Attract in the Contest Hall, but besides that, there is nothing else of interest here. In the Rusturf Tunnel, there's an HP Up, a Blackglasses, a DAMMIT THERE'S A TRAINER IN HERE Max Ether, and the black belt guy that gives HM04 Strength. And now I must go. The plot demands it!

<+DNA> right, got through Rusturf Tunnel
<+DNA> and Aqua Rock, and Tundaria Tower, and Gaia Rock
<+DNA> next stop, the Catacombs
<Haberdash> I think you should stop playing Golden Sun
<+DNA> I think you should shut up
<Haberdash> ;-;
<+DNA> plus, it's easier to play than Ruby.
<Haberdash> how so?
<+DNA> I don't have to write down every single freaking thing I do or say.
<Haberdash> you what?
<+DNA> what do you think this centered wall of text is?
* Haberdash looks around
<Haberdash> ...oh

Maybe now she'll stop complaining. And then I'll get another team member later so Haberdash doesn't steal all the lines that are even moderately funny.

<twistedturtwig> hey DNA!
<Haberdash> what does HE want
<+DNA> what is it, TT?
<twistedturtwig> I heard from Captain Kaiser you delivered the package?
<+DNA> of what might as well have been grass-type pokepron, yes
<+DNA> why didn't you tell us it was TCG merchandise? I might have handled it better
<twistedturtwig> but you might have taken it for yourself!
<+DNA> ...
<+DNA> BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
<Ray> I think I'll take over for now, since DNA has lost the ability to be rational
<twistedturtwig> okay. seriously though, I'm grateful!
<twistedturtwig> Why, if I were a rain cloud, I would shower you with gratitude and hail you as a hero!*
<Ray> that sounds painful. also punpleasant.
<Haberdash> ha
<Haberdash> punpleasant
<twistedturtwig> anyway, we just developed the Repeat Ball. have a free sample!
* twistedturtwig gives 1 Repeat Ball
<Ray> just 1?
<twistedturtwig> if you want more, go ahead to Rustboro and buy as many as you want!
<Ray> ...you are such a cheapskate
<twistedturtwig> this is true
*** twistedturtwig has left #route
<Ray> I'm not sure whether to be grateful that we got a Repeat Ball, or insulted that we got ONE Repeat Ball
<Ray> meh, let's just keep going. DNA, you ready?
<Crumpets> Sir DNA is still doubled over with laughter, Ray.
<Ray> fine, we'll drag him along until he snaps out of it
<Ray> I don't think the rain cloud line helped any

* = actual game dialogue

Blah apparently disappeared into thin air. No one knows where he is now. Knowing him, he is probably playing and ranting about Wind Waker HD for the 26th time. By the time we get back to Petalburg Gym, I finally snap out of it. There are 7 trainers, not counting the leader, and they like X Items. Their loss - X Items suck.

The trusty band of 3 is ready to take on PMJ's gym. Strangely enough, none of the junior trainers are black. Most of the time, their item use was just a free turn for me (sorry, ALL OF THE TIME), but for whatever reason, every time a Linoone actually got a Headbutt off against Ray, it was a critical hit. Ew. I think my favorite was when some trainer used Dire Hit on his Zangoose, and Ray proceeded to use Double Kick for an OHKO.

7 trainers later...

<+DNA> !challenge
<@PMJ> You got four Gym Badges now? Took you long enough. That means I'm next. To be honest, it's gonna be cool fighting against you, DNA. I know you're the protag and all, but I'm going to go all out...and I expect you to do the same.
<+DNA> I'm pretty sure the actual dialogue isn't like that
<@PMJ> that father-son crap is overrated
<+DNA> true
<@PMJ> I bet someone's made a Darth Vader joke already, because I'm black.
<+DNA> you are correct.
<@PMJ> who is it? I wish to smite them with the Hand of Black God.
<+DNA> HW
<@PMJ> natch
<@PMJ> what happened to Gale?
<+DNA> he had an argument with Xander and ran off
<@PMJ> also natch
<@PMJ> well, enough chatter
<@PMJ> lgi

I'm extremely tempted to have Ray set up a Bulk Up sweep. Otherwise, Slaking is going to tear into me like no other. Sure enough, Facade from his opener lv. 28 Slaking takes off over half of Ray's HP. And he's faster. I have Ray Bulk Up twice, and Soda Pop on the 3rd turn before Facade hits, but much to my horror, he used Yawn. This is not good as I only have 2 Full Heals. Still, I decide to play it safe and do Bulk Up a 3rd time while Slaking is loafing around, and then Ray falls asleep.

<@PMJ> sweet
<@PMJ> slaking, use facade again
<Slaking> lol
* Slaking yawns again
<Ray> zzz
<@PMJ> ffs
<@PMJ> how did I get stuck with you
<+DNA> dat AI tho
* Ray wakes up
* Ray Bulk Up 4
<Slaking> facade? you got it bro
<@PMJ> of course NOW you facade
<@PMJ> when he's AWAKE
<@PMJ> and now he's at +5; great
<+DNA> well, hauntedskank lost to +5 Ray
<@PMJ> lol
<@PMJ> I bet he lost the ensuing wet t-shirt contest as well
<+DNA> I didn't stick around for it, but it wouldn't surprise me

And then Slaking #1 got OHKO'd by Double Kick. Turns out, the +5 was just enough! Next up the lv. 30 Vigoroth, so I don't quite have an opening. Vigoroth outspeeds, uses Slash, and CRITS.

<@PMJ> lol
<@PMJ> get salt
<+DNA> you know what?
<+DNA> I think I will
* DNA drinks his own salty tears.
<+DNA> okay Haberdash, use Leech Seed.
<Vigoroth> lolmiss
* DNA drinks again

I'm pretty sure I'm done at this point; it'd take a miracle for me to win - Vigoroth outspeeds even Crumpets. Sure enough, Vigoroth Slashes Crumpets out. There's no way I can win, so I admit defeat.

<@PMJ> lol gg
<+DNA> gg
<@PMJ> gonna soft reset?
<+DNA> obv
<@PMJ> obv
* DNA soft resets

I didn't lose because I was underleveled - Ray was level 30 for that fight. I lost because PMJ is freaking HARD. Damn Slakings. ...Truth be told, that was the 2nd try; on the 1st, the lead Slaking crit Facade right away and I turned it off right there, because lolno.

This time I wasn't paying attention, as I was supposed to Soda Pop after the first Truant, but I Bulked Up instead, thinking I had another turn. Thankfully Ray survived, albeit with 2 HP. And then it crit when Ray got to +4, so...

<@PMJ> not going as well as you thought, huh
<+DNA> no
<@PMJ> this is going to take a while, isn't it
<+DNA> yeah

I would put Haberdash up first to try and Leech Seed+Stun Spore the lead Slaking, except I want to save that for the LAST one, in case things go really bad. And by really bad, I mean only slightly less worse than what things are like right now.

Good thing I don't believe in Nuzlockes. Never will, either.

Next run I get Ray up to +6, right as Slaking Yawns at Ray again, so Slaking gets KO'd while Ray falls asleep. Not wanting to die to Vigoroth, I apply a Full Heal immediately, and pray Slash doesn't crit, in the 2 chances he gets to hit. (It doesn't.)

I think that, in R/S, the last Slaking is the easiest, because he keeps trying to spam Focus Punch, thus letting you get free hits on him constantly. Didn't matter in this case, as the first half of Double Kick crit, OHKOing so the second half never needed to hit.

<@PMJ> welp
<@PMJ> not as long as I thought
<+DNA> I was totally anticipating about 3 more resets
<@PMJ> same
* PMJ gives Balance Badge and TM42 Facade
<@PMJ> now go get Surf from Xander so your team will actually be good
<+DNA> lolk
*** PMJ kicked DNA from #gym

<Xander> sup DNA
<+DNA> wait aren't you playing the part of Gale's uncle, not his father?
<Xander> I don't think anyone actually cares
<+DNA> this is true.
<Xander> now take this HM03 Surf and gtfo
<+DNA> k
*** Xander somehow kicked DNA from #petalburg

First thing I do after leaving Petalburg: catch a Wingull

It took about 10 minutes

I find out a bit later that Wingull can't learn Surf

This is supremely annoying, so I have to teach it to Slave 0 instead. I forgot where the Move Deleter is in this game. ...He's in Lilycove, isn't he?
I surf across the water on Route 118, and I find...

<Larry> Hmm! A Good Rod is very good! Wouldn't you agree?
<+DNA> I've seen you before
<Larry> Are you sure it wasn't one of--
<+DNA> your less attractive cousins?
<+DNA> YES
<+DNA> I AM VERY SURE
<Larry> Hmm! We're of identical minds!
<Larry> Hmm! Take this Good Rod!
<+DNA> ...I'm going to take this and leave now

<Ray> so why are we fishing in front of the Winstrates' house again?
<+DNA> to catch the first derpfish we see, hopefully
<Crumpets> I do not believe Stunfisk comes around until Generation 5.
<+DNA> That's true, but OOH a level 27 Goldeen we're not here for Stunfisk.
<Crumpets> Then, pray tell, what do you mean by 'derpfish'?
<Crumpets> Is it perhaps that level 27 Magikarp you have just angled?
<+DNA> I got the Old Rod a LONG time ago
<+DNA> if I wanted a Magikarp, I had ample opportunity
<Magikarp> ;-;
* Magikarp leaves

Poor guy.

WAIT THERE'S A-never mind it's only level 14; I can do better. So was the 2nd one. -.-

<Ray> that next one was level 11
<Ray> and yet you are hooking level TWENTY-NINE Magikarp
<Ray> I get the feeling someone's trying to tell you something
<+DNA> Barboach is my main objective, and I will catch it

(I ended up catching the Magikarp anyway)

The Barboach I end up catching (which was the 4th one I saw) is level 10. That's even worse. Its nature is Mild, which is okay, I guess. I still have to wait for this egg to hatch, so I throw Barboach in the Daycare while I run around with this egg. I have to be tricky, as I haven't quite fought everyone on Route 117 yet. Barboach is okay off Daycare exp up to level 25, and the egg should hatch LONG before then.

While I'm at it...

<Haberdash> HEY!
<Haberdash> what gives?!
<+DNA> I'm sticking you in the daycare as well while I wait for the egg to hatch
<Haberdash> why!?
<+DNA> you're the lowest level on the team right now, obviously.
<+DNA> also, if you feel so inclined, you can go make babis.
<Haberdash> babis?
<+DNA> how is babi formed
<Haberdash> UGH
<Haberdash> HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WAITING TO SAY THAT
<+DNA> about a week

She bolted for the Daycare instantly. I think she really is tired of all of the Golden Sun I keep playing. Haberdash will be fine off Daycare exp up to level 27, and she's level 23 at present. Should be okay. And before anyone asks, she was not inclined to form babi with anyone. Especially not a Barboach that is still completely OBLIVIOUS (huehuehue) to the fact that it got captured.

<Crumpets> Why are we cycling back and forth?
<+DNA> This is the only way to fastforward time in this game since the battery is dead
<+DNA> also, egg-hatching timer
* DNA checks daycare
<+DNA> Dunce 12 Haberdash 24
<+DNA> egg is making noises too
<+DNA> we'll be fine

I decide to perform a bit of an experiment at this time with the Wynaut Egg. Apparently, its IVs and nature are set when you pick up the egg, not when it hatches. I must have been thinking of another egg that's determined by hatch time.

Funnily enough, I saved my game not long before the egg hatched. I'll give you a perspective: I saved in the middle of Mauville City, and the egg hatched right at the door outside the Daycare. Neat, huh?

I want to try and make it hatch in a hilarious of a location as possible, so I start thinking of ideas. The Game Corner didn't do anything, and neither did the Daycare. I'm going to run around for a bit and decide on the perfect hatching place. No, I'm not going to pick the Weather Institute. That would take far too long, dragged out further than I already have dragged it out.

At this point, I'm actually kinda miffed that the Oceanic Museum didn't work. I settle on New Mauville, but the egg hatched 20 steps before I got there, so I soft-reset. At this point, the best choice for me is either Jagged Pass or a Secret Base. Unfortunately, I do not think there are any Secret Bases within short walking distance of a PC. (50 steps, tops.)

I settle for Mt Chimney, which I can reach by using the Cable Car. I have a feeling the PC actually REVERSED the egg timer somewhat, allowing me ample time to reach there. I know this because I ran around wildly for another minute before the egg finally hatched. And with that, I am satisfied.

<Wynaut> SACRAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
<+DNA> that is an incredibly interesting first word
<+DNA> sounds like a battlecry
<Ray> I'm pretty sure it's just hungry
<Ray> feed it something
* DNA feeds the Wynaut
<Wynaut> SACRAMAA-oh thank you that tastes pretty good
<Wynaut> who're you guys?
<+DNA> I am...your father?
<Wynaut> oh please, you don't look like a father
<Wynaut> do I look like I was born yesterday
<+DNA> no
<+DNA> you look like you were born TODAY.
<Wynaut> This is true.
<+DNA> so, what would you like us to call you?
<Wynaut> SACRAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
<+DNA> so it shall be

The newly-christened Sacrama is male with a Bashful nature. That's not bad, but now I have to walk from Mt Chimney all the way back to Mauville. And yes, I could have done Meteor Falls, but that involves walking even FARTHER, and I don't want to screw up the Daycare exp.

Come to think of it, I think this is the first time I legitimately used the Daycare to gain exp for a team, ever.

<Haberdash> THERE YOU ARE
* Haberdash jumps into DNA's arms
<Haberdash> I'm going to go INSANE if I have to spend 1 more minute alone with that dunce!
<Barboach> how is babi formed
<Barboach> how gurl get pragnent
<Ray> I imagine that would get irritating after the 5th time
<+DNA> they need to do way instain mother
<+DNA> who kill their babis, because these--
<Haberdash> STOP
<+DNA> okay, I'm sorry
<Haberdash> can we just go now?
<+DNA> sure
<+DNA> HEY DUNCE
<Barboach> ?
<+DNA> we're going
<Barboach> will there be muffins?
<+DNA> um...sure?
<Barboach> awwwwww yeeeeeee muffiiiiiiiiins
<Ray> ...it's like a memetic nightmare

I think I can call it here, since after beating PMJ, all I really did was just add those two dudes onto the team and run around a lot. Now, I'm going to tack the EXP Share onto Sacrama, go take on all the trainers I missed (Dunce will be doing most of the fighting, optimally), and by the time I write the next part, we will be a whole lot buffer.

Also we'll have a lot more goodies. All I will be doing is going over the areas I missed on Routes 110 and onward, plus go clean out Route 115. I'll list what happened and stuff at the start of the next part.

For now, enjoy my current team status!

End of Chapter 5!

DNA's Team So Far:

{combusken} Ray lv. 31
{golbat} Crumpets lv. 26
{shroomish} Haberdash lv. 25
{barboach} Dunce lv. 15
{wynaut} Sacrama lv. 5

Wow, this was hilarious! xD Gotta love Sacrama.

Also... Destiny Bond or Safeguard? (Both are extremely useful)
