Oh, what fun it is to see a film that is so delightful in every possible way imaginable. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the new film by Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp, is the most fun I

I absolutely loved that movie. Johnny Depp was, like, so cute as a childish Willy Wonka character, although that same character was still ironical in its own way.

The kids, except for Charlie, seemed to me a lot more evil than in the previous movie. Can't remember the name of that girl, the blonde one, with lots of ribbons and trophies (the gum girl), geez, her mother (and her) were so...disgusting and horrible people, much more than in the first movie.

Although the title says "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory", I think this movie explored a lot more Willy Wonka and the previous film made the opposite (the title dayd "Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory", but Charlie seemed to be the real main character).

The clothing designs were marvellous, a Tim Burton tipical. Even the Oompa-Loompas were nice, although the 1971 movie ones seemed more 'magical' and exoctic.

I haven't read the book, so I was kind of surprised to know all those informations about Willy Wonka. I mean, maybe Tim Burton changed some of them, but I guess most part was probably taken from the book.

I was impressed on how the two Willy Wonkas (from Burton and from Dahl) are different from each other. Although the basic personality is the same (excentric and ironical), the Dahl Wonka seems a lot more mature than the Burton Wonka. Of course, both of them are amazing.

Oh, well, I don't want to say a lot more. Nido, I only read the first two paragraphs of your review, because I needed to post this! But I'll read it again now, and I'm happy that you liked the movie! ^_^

I agree with Nido. Great movie, for kids and adults. I saw it twice over vacation, and the second time I saw it I could of saw War of the Worlds, or Fantastic 4 again, but this had more humor in it. A great show.

Since you said that you didn't read the book, I'm assuming that when you said "the Dahl Wonka" you meant the 1971 movie. What you must realize is that Dahl's version of the story is the book. The 1971 movie was made by some guy called Mel Stuart. Dahl said that he hated the 1971 movie and that both the story and the Willy Wonka character were not what he had in mind, and weren't in the spirit of the book at all. That's why I said that Roald Dahl would be proud of Burton's film, because it is not only more faithful to the book story-wise, it is also more in the spirit of the book. :)

I havent seen it but I have seen the trailers on t.v, it looks hilarious what Johnny Depp says and what happens in the factory. The old Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was good but this is supposedly better.

Of what i've heard i'd give it a 8.6/10 and see if im right when I see it with that rate.
:D

Oops, I guess I made a mistake. I though Dahl was the name of the producer of the 1971's movie. :P

Anyway, I didn't know he disliked the first movie. I spoke to a friend and she said Dahl would actually dislike both of them, Burton's and Stuart's. Now I'm interested in the book, I want to read it and see for myself which one of the movies is more faithful to the book.

I just wished The Chocolate Factory had a sequel. Maybe with Charlie going as mad as Wonka. Maybe with another plot. Its just that a movie with a giant chocolate factory is something almost...delicious.

Sorry to disagree, but the O.G. (original) one was better. To well, uh, just flashy and moving around all the time. Just for me, Jonny Depp sorta killed it. Thats just my opinion (everyone i know, alot of people, loved it so yeah)

Ok. the new one was way worse than the first. The chocolate and candy was better in this one but Johnny Depp didnt quite fit the role. Overall I give the original 9/10 and this one 7/10. The only reason why the first one gets a 9 not 10 is because fo the burping bubble scene. Unneeded!

okay let me get this off my shoulders first...THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME!! i went to see this movie atleast 18 times in theaters and brought along atleast wo of my friends when i did. Then i bought the movie and it was a dream come true honestly, im tired of here the orginal was better cause there was no orginal, it wasn't a remake so there for could not be an orginal, this one followed the book more then the Willy wonk and the chocolate factory, well now that i think about it some what was just better cause it explained alot more, like i enjoyed the fact that Willy was more childish and there were even certain times when he looked just plain evil which was AWESOME! and here the surprise im not some crazyed up fan girl on Johnny depp, I just like the movie. I loved it so much that...well i bought an 18"inch talking figure of willy wonka. This movie was great it showed more then willy wonka and the chocolate factory, and they put so much work into it. then again to each their own :D
